Exhausted Obama

That does not take away the fact that Obama is human. Give him a break.

give him a break? absolutely not. there's no way in hell would I ever vote for average "Joe the Plumber" for this kind of job.

Actually, talk of his exhaustion is clouding the path I think this President really taking us down but I might get lynched if I expound on it. I hope I'm wrong......about the path, I mean

That's why we have a Defense Secretary. :cool2:
To do what? He can't take over any of the President's duties.

As for your second point, being President for several hours does not equate to passing over the responsibility of the Presidency to the VP on a permanent basis which is what I believe Reba was alluding to.
That's why I asked you how long of a "temporary breather" you meant. :)

Oh, no! No necktie parties allowed at AD.

I know Reba doesn't want to hear this, but I'll say it again. Obama has 8 years of problems to correct. He may have tried to do too much too soon, but can you blame him? Obama is young, eager and wants to do everything possible to improve America. Maybe he just needs a temporary breather for awhile before tackling more complicated issues. After all, he's human too, right?

That's right...he's a human being like the rest of us...I know he's the President, and that is a huge deal, but we have to remember that he is not the MESSIAH or something magical...he's just a human being who happens to be an overachiever. Perhaps we should encourage him to take breaks, take one day off every once in a while, like every couple of weeks if he is able to, he can also temporarily turn his power over to the VP once in a while if we're not in a immediate critical situation like the Cuban missile thing with JFK. Maybe he needs to be reminded that he is still a human being. I still have faith in him.

Also, we have to remember that Obama is dealing with a LOT more than Bush ever did...I also suspect that Bush slacked off quite a bit, going to Camp David so often. Obama has a HUGE burden on his shoulders that he is willing to take on, and of course that is going to make him quite exhausted...that's human nature. He's also trying to quit smoking, so that makes it a little bit harder for him. I am all for him quitting smoking, but maybe he could put that off until the 4 or 8 years of presidency is up, and then attempt to try to quit then. He has pledged NOT to smoke in the White House, so I guess he would smoke outside, anyway. Trying to quit smoking while dealing with so fucking much shit that Bush left to him when he left office would make it even more stressful, anyway.

Since that's the case, why don't you look at Obama the same way? After all, he's doing the best he can with what was thrown in his lap.
I don't think any of those past presidents pooped out after a few weeks into their terms. Obama needs to buck up or get out while the gettin's good.

Obama hasn't quit yet, so again, don't count your chickens before they're hatched. :)

I couldn't agree more, Lucia. :)

transferring power to VP is a very serious procedure and it cannot be done easily. this process requires paperwork, lawyer, and few other matters.

Bush brought work to home, ya know.... nothing wrong with working at home. he needed to de-stress by cutting tree logs and doing some chores... just like Obama needed to play basketball. Bush had to deal with the gigantic security mess that Clinton Administration left for him, ya know? :)

difference between POTUS and rest of us is that his finger is on red button (weapons and nukes.) and he can make irrational order that costs lives. are you up for that?

technically - it can happen. Dick Cheney was the President for a several hours while Bush underwent routine medical procedure.

It is a good thing Bush did this, because many medical procedures often require the adminstration of drugs such as Versed and IV pain medicines such as Fentanyl. When people have procedures where they are given such medications, they are always told NOT to make ANY important or legal decisions or sign ANY important or legal papers for at least 24 hours, because the medications can affect how people make critical and important decisions. So, it is appropriate for Bush to turn his power over to Cheney for a day so he would not risk making the wrong decisions while having the medications in his body.

Or, maybe after talking to some of the old pros, begin to see the "awfulness" of being the President of the world's greatest country, he'll realize he needs to hunker down a bit and forge on. This isn't university teaching anymore...

He can't assume any of the duties of President, but he can confer with Obama.

right but bottom line - Obama makes final decision.... even if it's irrational....

The bottom line is that Obama can make the final decision with the help of his advisors. :cool2:

You got that right.

right... that's usually the case of transferring power to VP - medical reason. and now.... transferring the power to VP cuz of exhaustion? very very very very bad sign!
