Today my daughter got her second pair of hearing aids (the most powerful ones out there), and I think she actually heard something for the first time!! To see her little face light up when she heard noises was so great. I am not sure how much she heard, but I think for the first time she actually heard herself make a noise, and I think she heard my voice too. She was very excited. I really agree with you, I think she loved listening to herself babble!

I look forward to seeing her reaction as she hears other sounds in the future!
I'm glad HA's work for her. MAke sure you follow up on her progress.
Friends of us had a bad experience where their son was fitter HA's that were too weak. Just by chance they saw another specialist who said "This is totally wrong" and fitted the right HA's (setting). 2 years lost because the "specialist" didn't know his job!!!!

So, pay close attention and do not be afraid to ask and doubt!!

AOS degree .......... liberal art courses in RIT. Liberal Art courses requires to write a lot of paperworks. It requires to take five elective courses that relates to Liberal Arts to get an AAS degree. Easy way out for him to get AOS degree. ...........
I proved NTID wrong after I demanded to take a LAPT test and passed my writing test. So I can go to RIT to take some courses. ;) That's how I got my AAS degree plus more credits toward BS degree. .............

And whats more I got two Dean Lists at RIT for two quarters before my grandmother (102) died on the first year that I went back after all those years I didnt go to college. I earned the scholarship that I am proud of my hardwork achievement and GPA that is over 3.5.

I dont need to brag about it because it s for me not for you or anybody else. So there! Now you can see what I am trying to say.

Thank you so much!

Sweetmind
"......"I dont need to brag about it ...." .... what do you call that post than.... Generag info???

This is sad example of poor suffering tortured child forced to hear.
Imagine how un-happy would she be with CI.

NOW you are saying it aloud that we deaf people with HA device for many years that is a failure..............
Wonderful... YOU are the one stating that all the time... Have you ever read YOUR OWN posts????
You are telling that because YOU had HA's but YOU couldn't etc..... read your posts yourself..

I definetly will. I am going back on Tuesday so they can check them and see how she did over the weekend. Plus I take her weekly to a school for the deaf, they have a great infant program. They will be checking her progress weekly.

Thanks.. and fragmenter too!

Excuse me???

How is her being happy, torturing her? I guess the smile on her face, is not a good thing? I don't understand what you are getting at.

getting closer

Sweetmind
It s perfect example you are taking over Deaf community and my topic that is a very good example that u prevent Deaf people who believe in myself that I can do anything without devices

Here lies the truth of the matter, imo.

Rest assured SM, taking over the Deaf Community is the last thing people want to do! In fact, locally, people avoid the Deaf community becuase of attitudes like yours.

This is is really very sad. In fact, how very self-destuctive of the Deaf Community.

Boult, loml: what about the "school within a school" model (my term - I don't know if there's a canonical term for this) - where you have classes in ASL and an educational system aimed at deaf students (whether oral, cueing or signing) within a mainstream school? There's a district near me that does that, and I've always thought that seems like the best of both worlds. You get the deaf-oriented education, socializing with other deaf students, good models of ASL; and you also get mainstream classes for students that acheive at that level, socializing with hearing students (which benefits both deaf and hearing students), and access to the kind of resources that are only available with a larger school.

ismi,

Absolutely, if the end result is a quality education. The administration needs to be challenged regarding the quality of teaching staff that they hire for TODs' (speaking from a local persperctive). Change is slow coming here. The largest group of people who can make a change are the parents. It is the moral obligation to ensure that the rights of children are met. jmo

Without knowing much about you (Fuzzy), I am now thinking that maybe I took this the wrong way. If you were trying to make a point that helping children hear is not torture, then I am very sorry for thinking negative!!!

Not meant as an insult... I thought I transformed it to sexyPig.. Doesn't matter.

But to get back to your post....

She is bragging!

It s getting too bored and same old shyte over and over about CI that is not really NEW.. No wonder why! You got nothing else to say and are denying way too much.

Now I have my reason to protect Deaf children s best interest. No wonder it makes me stand up for a long long time. I feel sorry for some parents who have CI failure children that did not recieve some help after CI radicals dump those Deaf children s alternative. The parent lost in space and doesnt know what to do. Sighs! Thats a very coward and selfish from you audism people

i reread your post and boult's statement that you were referring to and i am sorry i off that reply in haste and not thinking first -- that was exactly what i was cautioning certain people to read carefully and think first before posting! shame on me as i didn't listen to my own advice -- beets? (meaning "peace" -- that is what my hearing daughter said one of frag's friends used to pronounce "beets" when he meant "peace" and i LOVE using that word!)
oh, and i somewhat agree with boult's theory -- we all have own "perfect" opinions of schooling -- i'm a product of the John Tracy Clinic (john is the son of movie star Spencer Tracy) which my mom corresponded with and took up working with me at home, then i went to Sunshine Cottage (a very small deaf school in Texas -- i don't even know if it's still in existence) and then attended CID in St. Louis until my parents decided they were advancing me too rapidly (i had skipped 3 grade levels in 2 years and my classmates were 3 or 4 years older than me but they "forgot" that i really needed to take each grade level of math which i really sucked at) and they pulled me out and placed me in a public school starting at the 6th grade up to graduation from high school -- whew! i know everyone is at different levels of deafness, education, and all that so i understand that we all have different opinions on how to teach deaf children
ok, ok i'll shut up -- i just realized i'm babbling and everyone have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!

You WENT to Sunshine Cottage GASP! Yeah it is still in existence! I went there for a year before my parent moved to Dallas from Az so I had to leave. It was good school and good teachers.. but living with guardian family who has deaf son sucks. LOL

AOS degree that does not do anything with liberal art courses in RIT. Liberal Art courses requires to write a lot of paperworks. I find this is really odd strange for him to brag about. ** shaking my head**

I proved NTID wrong after I demanded to take a LAPT test and passed my writing test. So I can go to RIT to take some courses. ;) That's how I got my AAS degree plus more credits toward BS degree. I left for a very good reason as far as I already explained it to you. I havent done it yet however I will go back to other college when I get a chance. My children comes first that I am willing to help them out while they are still young and have a chance to get a better life.

And whats more I got two Dean Lists at RIT for two quarters before my grandmother (102) died on the first year that I went back after all those years I didnt go to college. I earned the scholarship that I am proud of my hardwork achievement and GPA that is over 3.5.

LIKE I SAID BEFORE YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MY LIFE. :dunno: THAT'S BECAUSE YOU NEVER ASKED! You never explained the reason for leaving... it must be someone that you explained to. :dunno:

At least I graduated in my major. period.

I do not understand you.... I was told that you are Oral Deaf wearing two hearing aids... you do not use signs..

Sounds like you are in very much against CI.... I am confused..

You also mentioned of having migraines.. I used to have lots of migraines nearly everyday while i wore two hearing aids.. i had all kinds of tests from doctors to find out why i had migraines..

I almost got addicted to pain pills for migraines,... so i stopped wearing two hearing aids 5 yrs ago,,,, Migraines had come less and less,, I feel better,,

Thanks!!
