Doctors fight in delivery room, baby dies

Yep. I believe I said they deserved to get fired over this. I think they should lose their licenses, get hit with malpractice suits and face criminal charges as well.

I wasn't arguing....lol. Just expanding........ My post was worded poorly

I was asking who is in favor of murder charges being filed? Mark me down as Yea

Please get real. The doctors were not intending to murder a baby.

I'd like to know exactly how the baby died... did the baby got stuck inside? How did the baby die of asphyication?

The article didn't say much but yea that's extremely stupid of what happened.

Oh I am very real. I probably should have taken the time to write criminally negligent homicide......but other than that......

when will doctors learn that it's not about thier inflated egos and that it's really about patient care

I agree that negligent applies here and a possible malpractice suit can be filed.

With it being in South America not sure what laws apply there.

It states that the baby died of asphyication. It very well may been something the doctors could have done by simply clearing out the airway. But the OP article also stated the along with other complications.

Until we know. Can not truly say.

I can say that I feel both doctors did not intend for the baby to die. They allowed their ego come before medical care.

More than likely a manslaughter charge will uphold than a murder charge if the doctors are found that something could have been done to save this baby. Instead of fighting.

Another question. Which doctor will be charged? The one that was called in? Or the doctor that was suppose to be there??

Perhaps the hospital itself will be sued!

Sad.

This was very sad. I know with both of my deliveries, my OB/GYN was there as was the on-call doctor for the hospital. All total, there were 4 delivery doctors in my room along with 4 nurses, myself and hubby. A little nerve wracking, but I had high risk pregnancies so they were being really prepared.

In any case, it shouldn't matter what country this was, a newborn died because it didn't get the treatment needed at birth. Both doctors have been terminated and the next step should be that the hospital really review their policies and enact changes. If the country's law allows for lawsuit to be in place, then the parents should go for it with all they have. Nothing will bring back their child, but they will have the satisfaction of knowing that they helped prevent it from happening again.

Very sad story all around. :(

My understanding.

Mothers have a doctor do deliver the baby, once the baby is delievered a pediatrician is on standby to care for the baby while the OBGYN (doctor) cares for the mother. The Pediatrician(another doctor) cares for the baby.

Yeah, but I had 3 OB/GYN's in the room with my pediatrician.

I was supposed to have twins with both pregnancies, but they were just large babies. Also, C-sections and daughter had trauma at birth. Oxygen cut-off and failed her APGAR tests big time. She was the first, At 2nd delivery, my doctor didn't want to take any chances and ordered extra doctors just in case, but son was a breeze, C-section and also supposed to be twins.

Had double heartbeats and we saw two in there, but there was only one.

Wow! Bet that was scary for you. Glad it worked out for you.

I was speaking in general.

Usually in an event of a normal delievey. An OBGYN is there along with a Pediatrician.

Not sure how they do things in Brazil.

too true. I know you were speaking of general terms. I tend to rattle on at the fingertips needlessly at times.

You have every right to doso.

Reading back and stating before. Complications was mentioned. Which is probably why this woman could not wait for her regular doctor to arrive. And the rest of the medical team may have done what they could. Until her regular pissed of OB came in trying to take control.
That may be when the fight was on!!
