Do you think about your mortality?

Exactly, today was very surreal. It's my first day back to work that should be normal but somehow isn't. I spent a good deal of time talking with others at work that knew him as well. Some of them are pretty distraught. I just learned of another dozen or so folks that will make the two hour drive to his funeral tomorrow.

Sounds like you guys are able to support each other as you each go through this. That is a good thing.

You are a real piece of work. Do you even know what the issue and topic of the OP
is?

While we could have a religious debate about the afterlife. That is not what this thread is about. I asked if you have had an event in your life that made you think about the possibility of dying. I had no intention of discussing religion here.

yes it's preferable that way. everybody has a different outlook on mortality. some turns to religion for comfort. some turns to science. some turns to self-destructiveness. some simply don't care.

as what banjo said, it is important that we have a healthy view of death otherwise.... you're gonna develop a problem that can cripple you from living a full productive life.

stay hungry. stay foolish. :)

I think more about how I will die instead of when I am dead. I just hope I dont die a long and painful death. I didnt really read this thread throughly but I will get back to it.

Right. Fear of death prevents you from living.

I remember my grandmother telling me that she did not care about when she died, or what the circumstances were. All she wanted was to die in her sleep so she would not be aware of it. Well, in a way, she got her wish. She ended up with rapid progress Alzheimer's and developed pneumonia and forgot how to cough. They got her chest cleared up enough for her to sleep one night and she died during the night, in her sleep. The family was thankful that she got her wish in the end as so many don't.

If you had no intention of doing so why did not you nip it in the bud?
You made no complaint over rockin'robin#5 nor Grummer#11 nor kokonut#12 and that was on the first page.

Because they did so without proselytizing, unlike you.

I believe that death is only the beginning to something better. When discussing mortality the issue of what comes after death would inevitably be brought up. There's no avoiding it.

I'm inclined to agree with you. But how exactly do you think it will be better? Do you have specific ideas on how it will be better, or do you think it's just a general "better?"

I'd be interested in a few specifics on that one myself.

Liar! Put up the number of the post where I did such. I only let members know and did not preach to them nor encourage them to change anything in their life.
Do you even know the meaning of the word?

It also could be the beginning of something worst. Nevertheless, one can not discuss mortality without discussing after-death.

Post reported. Name calling.

Mine or his? I started writing out some "specifics" and got three long paragraphs in and sad F-- it.

:laugh2: Does it really matter? Not like there is much you can do to change it. Pretty danged certain that you are going to die, and what happens, happens.
