yes, those conditions can be debilitating. There are many other conditions that are not as debilitating but a cure would be nice as well. Many do see deafness as debilitating, others do not. Just as with any condition one learn to live with it.

nuts!

I don't see how deafness is seen as debilitating but to each their own I guess

me either. I could create another thread with a poll to ask if one sees deafness as debilitating but I think we know the answer on it :)

:laugh2:

It would be amusing to see it though.

Debilitating: 1
Not debilitating: 63

Then we could all ruminate on who the "1" might be. :giggle:

I think a cure for deafness would just make it complicated for those who want to keep the deaf culture. Next thing you know, you have people calling the social service on deaf parents because they don't want to cure their kids. Because they view it as child abuse.

the question is, do we want our tax money to pay for this type of research?

:gpost:

you people are killing me......

How can you lump deafness in with all these? Lots of them are more debilitating.

there is a deaf culture and blind culture.... and we already have a language for it. But Alzheimer culture? Parkinson culture? I think kokonut's confusing them with Alzheimer & Parkinson support group
