Do you believe in God?

I've read the Bible, and no where does it say "God did not create aliens". The existence of Aliens would not disprove God. However I am curious as to how a belief in aliens is more substantial than a belief in God?

The Christian God is also not "Male". He has the atributes of a "Father", but God is simply Spirit, niether male or female. "In his image he created them, male and female, he created them" (That's off the top of my head, it's in Genesis 1 I think .. not sure what verse)

If God is spirit and we are in his image this may possiby mean Humans are simply spiritual beings.

As for the letter from God, I am curious as to what other religion has the belief:
"Love your God, and love your nieghbor as yourself."

Many other religions have similar sayings, but they are not quite the same. Look into what the other religions state, and compare them to what Jesus said, and see if you can see the diferences.

I also wonder if it would be fair for the god who wrote such a letter to make everyone go to heaven? What about people who don't want to go to heaven? Is it loving for a god to force people into heaven? What if eating people makes me happy (like that individual who recently videotaped himself eating another person), god supports my decission? Is it fair that no matter how you live your life, or what you believe is right, you get to go to heaven?

If that is what you believe, and if you are right, then there is no need for Christians to change what they believe, cause they will end up in the same place as you. But if Christians are right... they will still end up winning, and it will be you who loses. Those are pretty good odds if you are Christian.

I didn't say that God didn't create aliens. I'm saying that whenver I go to other religions, they say that there is no life out there... except us. I've even heard of religious fanatics saying that NASA is wrong for exploring for life on Mars cuz they are defying God.

God gives the people a "free will". It's people's choice to create their own lives on what kind of life they want to make..it's either good or bad...success or failure...rich or poor... anything you could name it. To tell you the truth, I am not sittin' in God's throne to decide who will go to heaven or not. I am just merely a human bein' on this earth. And, of course God wants everyone to love one another and to learn one another's education, experience and knowledge to understand each other. The most important of all is that God wants everyone to KNOW Him personally for spiritual relationship. He just offers Himself and it is up to people to take his offer or turn thier back on Him....

Oh—I think I get this now. Searching for extra-terrestrial life defies God. So we shouldn’t go looking for it, lest we piss off the Big Daddy. I can relate to that. If I tell you that there’s no peanut butter in the cupboard and you go look in the cupboard anyway, that’s going to piss me off—I just fucking told you that there’s no peanut butter in the cupboard. So the bottom line is that there’s no such thing as extra-terrestrial life because God sez so. But God’s not hanging around on this planet—at least I haven’t seen him lately. Therefore, God is an extra-terrestrial. Therefore, God doesn’t exist because God says so. Makes perfect sense to me. :sure:

Did Pilate ever listen to Jesus when he began speaking of another kingdom outside of the earth that he ruled in?

Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. – John 8:23

*Chuckles* Of course! Who wouldn't agree to this scripture?

I was referring to what other people say about the Bible. I think it's bullshit. I do believe that there's something out there. What's the point of having other planets if there are no other life?

Of course there’s something else out there. There are 70,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in the observable universe. That’s 10 times as many stars as there are grains of sand on this planet. And note that I say observable universe—the portion of the universe that we can currently see with our existing telescopes. We still haven’t seen all the way out to the edges yet. Add to that the fact that most astronomers agree that our universe is itself a localized cluster—if you left it and went far enough, you would eventually come to another one. Can you seriously tell me with a straight face that this rock is the only place in the entire cosmos that harbors life? That there is absolutely nothing else out there except 109 chemical elements and a bunch of empty space? Not even a wet boulder somewhere with some cheese mold growing on it? Even if only one out every quadrillion solar systems hosted a planet with intelligent life forms, that still allows for 70,000 sentient species to exist in our local ‘hood. But God, who’s so damn clever that he put the whole shebang together in 7 days, only saw fit to put one pathetic little self destructive species on one insignificant speck of dust orbiting an unremarkable star in an otherwise unremarkable galaxy. :sure: Robert Heinlein once said that "God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent—it says so right here on the label. If you have a mind capable of believing all three of these attributes simultaneously, I have a wonderful bargain for you. No checks, please. Cash only and in small bills".

Oops—that’s 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars, folks. I left out three zeros. So that allows for 70 million sentient species, not 70 thousand. I think it’s pretty safe to say that we're not alone in the universe. Maybe there’s even a species out there that has figured out how to exist without fucking up themselves, their own planet, and everything else they come in contact with.

Well, I can certainly say that the odds of winning the lottery is better!

I was raised in a Christain family. I believe in God but I dont go to Church anymore. My views about God have changed over the years. If there is a God why dont he stop all the cruel things happening in the world today? Look at the Jews! They suffered so much under the Nazis and where was God then? 6 million were murdered by the Nazis. Then we get 9/11. Why didnt God stop that. Sometimes I think the God we have is a cruel God!. No wonder that my beliefs have changed so much. I realise a lot of people wont agree with me but if you read the Bible there are stories of murder , rape , sex etc. So I guess things haven't changed since the Bible was written!. But I do believe God made the world for us. Just look around you ......where do all the plants , animals , etc come from?
Guess I'm an agnostic now!

Daveyboy I respect your beliefs. I am not trying to change your thinking. I want to share something with you. When my husband was 15 years old he was accidentally shot in his neck by his cousin. His cousin playing with a gun and pointed it at my husband neck to scare him and BOOM the gun fired. The bullet shattered my husbands jaw, cut his main blood supply and stuck in his spine. In the hospital he had a stroke from no oxygen. He is paralyzed on the left side of his body. He loves God with all his heart. It is my belief, from the Bible, that God loves us so much he gives us free will. God permits us to make our choices. That day my husbands cousin chose to pick up that gun. 9/11 some bad people chose to destroy human lives. I lost a friend on 9/11. He only 18 years old. I know why your thinking different. I understand. Ask God if he exists. He will show you. He did for me.

I understand where you're coming from because, I went thru that myself too...

I've always asked myself ' Where is God when I need Him? '...U see I've been married to a hearing man for 15 years I didn't even believe in divorce, but however the marriage with him was hard to live with because of so much abuse going on and off through-out the years...

One time, The abuse went a bit too far after my second child, I end up in the hospital. There was a woman there who knew I was lying by covering up an abuse...She told me about ' God '....at first I was confused like where is he then? Why didn't He stopped the abuse? Why did he have to let it go on?..all those questions ran through my mind ...But, She said to me God knows what you are going through every day in your life..He is watching you and protecting you...I had a hard time believing it.....So she gave me a little Bible and told me to read this....and look up to God more and pray and you shall will see the difference ....God hears your prayer ..He is just waiting for you to look up to Him....

Of course I prayed and prayed ....Then One day I started to relized if it wasnt for God....I wouldnt be living on this earth....I even asked God to help me be strong and be able to leave this marriage and He did...

I'm in the middle of a divorce and starting my life all over again with my three handsome sons! I thanks God everyday for this moment....and for the rest of my life:)

God loves us so much he gives us free will..... God allows us to make our OWN choices in life...

Ask God something and He shall show you! :)

Mythology is a coded language speaking of the relationship of astronomy (the universe) and anatomy (you).
