Did you go to speech therapy as a kid?

Don't feel bad, I still have trouble with my R's and W's sometimes.

Me too. I keep saying I feel like Elmer Fudd.

It's about how you form the Rs and Ws with your mouth, and if I don't think it through, I don't always get it right.

The memory of the time I had to recite the alphabet in the 4th grade still haunts me. When I got to the letter W, the whole class started laughing and I am standing here being puzzled and I have no idea why they're laughing. Then I hear my teacher scold the whole class for laughing at me because I misprounced the letter W. I had never had people laugh at my speech before. I still don't like saying the letter w to this day.

This was in mainstream of course. :P

Does anyone want some grilled nectarines? I'm also grilling corn on the cob for those of you who want some southern food.

Yes, I did. I went to my cousin's college have specialized in speech therapy sessions every few days a wk for her major in class when I was in elementary. My therapists were very nice n' happy for me that's becuz I already had a good speech a lot easier for 'em. They didn't have any plm w/ me. For one thing I hated too far distance; plus, traffic that caused me tiredness, I was so bored sitting in car too long hour. I wish I should go w/my sibling n' neighbors to same school every after class takes speech therapy like my son did have one. He didn't have to stay there longer if he didn't want to. I'm not forcing it's up to him.
Even, nowadays everybody still tries to correct my speech error. I thought how funny they don't know me that well, but they could tell that I can talk well. Sometimes I tend to forget how to pronounce the word. So, I ask 'em how to say the word when I happen talking to them. My son does that same thing to me just like my old time.

My daughter said when I say 'Sit' is sometime sound like I am saying 'SHIT'! When I was out shopping with Finlay and told to him 'sit' while I was checking out the person at the cashier would look like this ! I never knew why until my daugther told my 'sit' sound 'shit!

of course!!! you'd think like that.

To clarify just for you... if a child isn't using ASL first.. he will obviously go thru hardship just like everybody else. This isn't really necessary if a child is doing ASL-first approach.

Any more question? Is there anything you'd like me to clarify?

That post was slightly hostile, which also isn't really necessary.
Your logic is illogical. Just because a child uses ASL, they will not automatically be exempt from abuse. An abuser will abuse regardless.

I was not caught ASL as a child and my dad would had never allowed me to learn ASL. He would not want anyone of his kids talking with their hands!
I would had hit for using ASL!

UGH YES! I only had language therapy in preschool, but had the boring ass hoh style articlation, pitch, volumne etc speech therapy from K-12. I HATED HATED HATED IT. It was SO boring.

I had speech therapy in grade school and there where 3 other kids in the room at the same! I end up picking up on one of kid speech defect, the kid had a lisp when he spoke! I hated going it was waste of time as you only got a about 10 minutes of the speech therapist time once a week !

My daughter still cannot say her L's, F's, CK's, TH's, R's W's, X's or any double consonant like the DD's in Daddy or the MM's in Mommy.

I am beginning to lose the clear enunciation of words. Like this sentence, Let's go sit at the table and play a game. It comes out as Less go si ad da table an pay a game.

I had private speech therapy from 1 years old to 17 years old. (one hour/one time a week) Plus I had speech therapy at mainstreamed schools.

Most of my private speech therapists are nice, friendly, and extremely patient. The speech therapists at mainstreamed schoolsl are nice, and all right, but I was annoyed by their spitting- "sh...sh.. sh.. sh.." I even told one of them- "you keep spitting it out at me!"

I notice that I learned to recognize the words without looking at people talking to me.

I can't hear "s" with my hearing aids the most of my life.

we're specifically talking about speech therapy.... nothing else. You've already read plenty of posts in here that many ADers have gone thru a form of abuse during speech therapy sessions - mentally and/or physically.

hence my post - "which can be avoided if ASL is emphasized first". How exactly was that "hostile" to you? Why in God's name would you think I was implying you were abusing your son over speech therapy??? That's just crazy.

Perhaps you couldn't connect dots because you're always thinking everybody's just out there to get you??? Do you always think everybody's talking about you???

Maybe next time - I won't reply with your post included because this is getting tiring with you always thinking we're snarky to you
