Derek and I coming from Lincolnwood Mall

We give everything we don't use or need anymore to the local GoodWill. It's close and easy to drop stuff off.

That's the problem-- it's not warm enough to switch out the long sleeves yet. If you look at the weather forecast for Chicago for the next 14 days, you won't see a lot of temps breaking 50. Many of them are in the 40's, and that's because of the frozen Lake Michigan. Temps right now is only 35 degrees.

Hm

Well when I lived in Colorado- it was normal to see snow fall and cold temps in June or October or even September. Didn't stop the stores from swapping out clothing or even just putting out the short sleeve clothing. I've seen people running around in shorts/short sleeves in snow before (goes without saying not in subzero temperature though).

No reason why a store wouldn't have BOTH short and long sleeve and/or shorts vs jeans or light material and heavier material.

Sometimes I donate my clothing to those big charity boxes you see in WalMart parking lots- there was one in my apartment complex too. Those went to programs that provided clothing to folks who were in poverty or in shelters.. or maybe even when a family is burned out of their home.

It probably won't be everywhere in Chicago-- just those along the lake, where it is COLD here. Those areas to the west of here are a lot warmer than it is here. Temps says 45 now, but sure doesn't feel that way.

Goodwill is overwhelmed with clothing. That's how they only put out nice stuff these days. The rest is sold and sent overseas to wreck someone else's economy. The Salvation Army and Goodwill: Inside the places your clothes go when you donate them.

I wonder if they've stopped underpaying their disabled workers.

Like the others have said, there's cheap clothing you can buy everywhere that hasn't been worn by someone else. You can even buy clothing at the Dollar Store these days. Even if you do decide to go to Goodwill, a lot of stuff will have the original tags on it. They get so much clothing in they can be that picky about what they put out on the floor.

That's BIGGEST reason that why I don't like Goodwill.

I don't like Salvation Army due to anti-gay policy.

Mark. Stores don't stock their products according to the current temps outside. They go by the seasons. Summer clothes are already in stores now, the winter stuff is on clearance. They start selling cold weather clothes towards the end of summer.....when it's still warm out.

That's just how it is. Every where. Every store. Unless it's a thrift store that just sells whatever they have. Totally different business model there.

Thank you! That's what I was trying to get across- just didn't do it well enough. Most if not ALL stores do that-- they sell clothing opposite of what the season is- colder weather clothing shows up somewhere around August to September. Bathing suits and flipflops start showing up somewhere around January-February.

Sales/clearances usually start to happen around October/November for warm weather stuff and hmm maybe March-May for cold weather stuff. I might be off on that but that's been my general experience.

As for thrift/consignment stores- I rarely get clothes but I did once get a brand new dress shirt for 11.00 (usually much more expensive).

You would fit right into with the younger crowd , I bet you seen the way some guys wear their pants waaay down below their waist. You can more than you want too.

At the carnival last night, we saw several nice looking young men wearing their pants just right at where their butts meet their legs. My husband was so tempted to yank their pants down. These men from the waist up could look classy but their looks got ruined by the thug look of their pants. Ugh...

People who look like street thugs from head to toe are lost causes and they look crappy throughout anyway.

I hate the "thug" look.

Doesn't your state have a law about pants being below the waist? I remember Massachusetts set up a law about that years ago. Don't know if they still have it on the books or not.

My daughter was telling me Goodwill will not take kids toys anymore b/c they can't keep up with all the recalls on toys today .

Yeah you see Christmas stuff may before December is here. You can find some good buys on winter clothes just before spring get here. And people do take vacations in the winters to a warmer climate warmer and the bigger stores has some summer stuff on stock . You can buy bathing suits all year .

When my kids were little and growing a lot I bought most of their clothes off season. They're pretty average sized and their was typical so the sizes according to age always fit them.

I'd buy their winter clothes for the next year at clearance time around feb/march and the clothes fir the next summer like the august before, or when ever the clearances were.

Saved me a lot of $$ obviously I could buy EVERYTHING that way, but I'd manage to get the bulk of it that way anyway.

...Derek showed me a new phone he has a goal to save for, and it's actually quite nice, and I brought two Micro SD cards for future use-- one is 16 GB, for my tablet, the other is 8 GB, for my phone. I also have a nice picture for Jess, too (Hint: her user name here was spotted there.)

Oh? Is it in relation to the movie? ;)

Hmm looks like a boutique, never seen one in Tampa. Nice shot though! :)
