But.... if I can get those grants... they can too.

I am ridiculing people for not knowing what they signed up for and now demanding for loan forgiveness or bailout or whatever they want. That's the difference. Do you understand?

Your first sentence is an incorrect assumption.

Do you actually think that educational loans are never forgiven?

They are asking for reasonable interest that would allow them to pay off their loans, jiro.

so.... we have to create laws to tell morons what to do?

and no I wasn't much more intelligent and talented... I was just a hard worker and careful with what papers I'm signing.

 We who took out loans to attend school are now all morons. Nice.

From our taxes?:laugh2: Yeah, that's where it all comes from. And every taxpayer gets their investment back, right? Someone else's taxes provided that money for you Jiro.:laugh2: Several someones as a matter of fact.

yea that's fine with me. That's why I'm a registered Democrat because I'm a strong believer in Social Responsibility.... something that disgusts Republicans

They've helped me and now I've helped back by paying taxes. I work harder... get higher salary... pay more taxes....

why the shocked face? You're the one who said they're morons and I'm asking you with words that you used to described them.

Umm...you work harder, get higher salary, qualify for more tax breaks, pay fewer taxes.

From the website:

"provide you with the skills to successfully transfer to a 4 year college"

Exactly

In other words, you can't do anything with their degree except transfer to a 4 year school where you will loose credits and extend your attempts to achieve a Bachelor degree by 1 to 2 years.

Incorrect. They offer Associates degrees and rarely would a course not transfer.

Did you bother to figure the cost by credit hour? Not cheap at all.

Yes, and it is easily affordable for people who are working their way through. It's much less that I paid.

but..... didn't you just say free handouts? wow.... so confusing... :dizzy:

Didn't you read my previous post? I specifically stated that I support Obama's bill that protect unemployed students with debt and I also specifically stated that as TXGolfer said... I believe it is in bank's best interest to refinance it at lowered interest rate.

That is 3rd time I've mentioned today for the past hour. Did you miss that?

oh good! if I'm paying fewer tax, then that means more donation and financial assistance to them! all for free!

I don't live a materialistic life and I have no needs for many useless stuff that people buy. that's why my apartment is spartan.

How true. Someone remarked a few weeks ago that Elvis Presley was an idiot to pay so much taxes on his income when he could have hired folk to pay less. Oh well. Carry on.

oh? what did you initially thought it to be?

Unconditional loan forgiveness. Meaning governments would just erase your loans, no conditions, no requirements.

And I didn't know that student loan forgiveness programs already exists. apparently most college grads didn't either.

You are so very wrong. The credits from an Associate's degree do not transfer credit for credit to a university. The average student transferrring from a junior college looses 12 credits.

that's what we especially TXGolfer have been saying but it's not exactly for free.

You'll have to do something in return for "loan forgiveness"... which is working for them. It's an option that many college students do not like. Some of my friends are doing that.

still quibbling over trivial thing?

I'm sure they know and they can check with admission office to see what can be transferred or not before signing up for more courses.

Yes, they do exist. Depends on your field. There are requirements that must be met for loan forgiveness, and you still have to pay on your loans for a specific amount of time and have no late payments prior to applying for forgiveness. Forgiveness is often used to encourage graduates with advanced degrees to serve underserved and impoverished areas for a number of years to qualify for loan forgiveness. Of course, when you are serving an impoverished area, it can be quite difficult to make enough to pay your loan amounts and live unless you have a good consolidation. And these options are only available for federal subsidized and unsubsidised loans and in areas of study that require advanced study.

Just correcting misinformation.

that's.... what we've been saying for the whole time........ I dunno why you're still fighting us :dunno:

I had heard of programs where nurses or doctors would be obliged to work somewhere after graduation in exchange for help with tuition fees but I didn't know that would be considered "loan forgiveness".

So, those students demanding loan forgiveness just wants their debts eradicated, no obligations? Somehow I have a hard time believing that. Are you sure they are not asking for loan forgiveness as what was posted in that article I linked to?

I'm not fighting with you. I am correcting your misinformation.
