Man arrested for child sex assault at Occupy Dallas camp | wfaa.com Dallas - Fort Worth

DALLAS — Dallas police have arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a minor at the Occupy Dallas campsite downtown.

Richard Armstrong, 24, was charged with sexual assault of child and failure to register as a sex offender.

Armstrong was identified as the man who police said had sex with a runaway from Garland. The alleged incident happened in a tent at one of the encampments on or before Oct. 23.
Police received information that a 14-year-old runaway from Garland was at the camp. Police checked the area and found the girl. During an interview, she revealed that she had had sex with a man in a tent. Armstrong was identified as that man and arrested.

The girl also told dectectives she had told Armstrong she was 19 years old.

He was previous convicted of sexual assault in 2009 and was ordered to register. Court papers indicate he had sex with a 14-year-old girl at a party in Coppell.

Police said they are not seriously concerned about safety at the Occupy Dallas encampment.

Wonder how long it will be before a city gets sued for this.....

Lot's of taxpayers are asking for them to be shut down. Personally I am not. I would love to see the protests continue. And the "stun grenade" was lobbed not fired......THAT is clear on the video. I'm not convinced they saw Olsen on the ground either. Especially in that much chaos. They may have.....if so they should be punished. But I don't see 100% proof here.

Do you bother to read anything except extreme right wing propoganda? Several links have been posted showing that the majority of the country is behind the protesters.

Why would a city get sued for this. Did you even read the details you posted? It has virtually nothing to do with the protests or the protesters. Nice attempt at another strawman. Be nice if you could stick with the real issues and stop trying to blame OWS for things that happen in Dallas all the time without OWS.

But, then again, this crap does more to show your lack of credibility than it does to destroy the credibility of the protesters, so, please, continue.

People sue cities all the time for less. Are you saying it won't happen?

Oh, and...

I don't think she is saying people don't sue cities. I think she is saying it's silly to worry about such a thing. Some people love to sue. Cities are used to it and they never get reported except on the "wall of the weird" sometimes.

So basically you are saying that if you commit a crime within the confines of a protest you can still be arrested... how is that news?

Those silly lawsuits can be costly for taxpayers. *shrug*

Your point? And exactly how does this have anything to do with OWS? Lawsuits against the police are costly for tax payers, as well.

Lawsuits filed against a city by OWS and lawsuits filed against a city because of OWS, not to mention the potential for more of each, has a great deal to do with OWS.

That is pretty obvious really....

Taxpayers be warned

How did OWS become responsible for the charges you referred to? A girl lied to a dude about her age, they had sex, she was underage, and he was charged. OWS is responsible for that?

Lawsuits filed against a city because of police action regarding OWS protesters is a cause against the PD, not against OWS. Police are responsible parties in that one.

What you are doing is known as misdirecting blame.

A) He was part of the group

B) The protesters should have left when asked or told. They didn't

How hypocritical that this movement that is supposedly against selfishness chooses the selfish action of costing taxpayers millions in a horrid economy because they want things their way. Tsk

No he wasn't. Just because he was in the area doesn't mean he was a part of the group. Overgeneralization and attempts to confer the charactersitics of one on all.

Still a lawsuit against the city based on police action, not protester action.

Trolling again? Or just attempting to flame?

No, I am expressing my opinion that it is selfish of OWS to cost taxpayers millions so that they can have their way. My posts are about the protesters and protests. However, many of your posts have been about me.

so... you want to charge people for protesting? What happens when you have a complaint? Should we charge you too? This is getting sillier and sillier. Go read some Alice in Wonderland, I think you would enjoy it.

Umm....many places already have permit fees and insurance requirements. And the TEA party paid these.

However my point is the selfish tactics of this group are hurting the very people they say they are fighting for.
