CNN sure acts fast. They had that story about the marine up for all to see for about ...... hmmmm .... 10 minutes.

They took it down after he was exposed.

OMG! He stayed where he was standing with his hands folded peacefully in front of him! They should have killed him. What was he thinking by exercising his right to peaceful protest?

**sarcasm, for those of you that are unable to recognize it**

You mean, he stayed right there, protesting, after he was told to leave?

A peaceful protest does not involve hurling objects at the police. Yes, I know you disagree with me on that one. We will just have to disagree.

I agree, and I'm not saying that they should cause anything that could potentially harm others, but.... what DID they do back then? They did simply obeyed orders? They did just show up peacefully and left when asked?

That worked?

The common trend I have seen concerning the protests of the 60's, was an attempt to villify authority.

Just from reading about it of course. I do know that MLK wanted peaceful protests, and there was enough hatred of blacks in the South, that the white police did abuse their roles as LEO's.

MLK, in my opinion, had the most impact in how he did his protests. When MLK led a protest, the protesters did not antagonize or act in any unlawful or violent way.

They did not hurl bottles at the police, they did not masturbate in public ( Occupy Madison loses permit - News - The Daily Cardinal - University of Wisconsin-Madison ), they did not defecate on police cars .... in other words, they did not bait police into confrontations.

When MLK and his marchers were seen on television, being beaten with clubs, and tear gas being dispersed on a "PEACEFUL" demonstration, people were shocked.

Ever since, every cause has tried to mimic what MLK has done. They try to villify the police and claim they are acting peaceful.

Just be careful of the BS.

offering a hot coffee to this unemployed poor bastard.....

Hm.... I'm reading up on the MLK protests, especially the ones in Birmingham... looks like there were quite a few bad demonstrators, even through MLK said repeatedly he wanted non-violent action.

If the demonstrators for Civil Rights Movement obeyed orders and were peaceful, why did so many demonstrators go to jail?

Because racism was alive and well.

I was attending school in Marion, Ala. and went with other guys to Selma.
Both side of the local population were well behaved. It was only until some imported Northern thugs started trouble that all hell broke loose. MM never reported this, did not even try to be fair about this event.

Wasn't it law enforcement behind those fire hoses?

"from the right" :laugh2:

look at the video again .... there is a cut - edit when projectiles are being shot at the police - not the other way around.

Scott Olsen was hit in the head by protesters hurling objects at the police.

And remember kiddies, according to jillio, those are really just flying bananas.

And no, the guardsmen who committed "murder" at Kent State - did no such thing - the US Supreme Court found their actions justifiable. The State of Ohio paid for the loss of life - no guardsman served a day in jail or paid a fine.

That should "at least" be a reminder that when ordered to disperse by armed authorities, you had better do as they say.

**smh**

Murder is murder, whether you have a badge on your chest or not.

Excellent point.

You have already shown us your woeful ignorance regarding both the Civil Rights Movement and Kent State. You thought Kent State protests were Civil Rights Protests. You probably shouldn't comment on either one until you increase your knowlege base of both.:P

He has a right to peaceful protest. That is what he was doing. Exercising his constitutional right. Would you defend him if he had a gun strapped to his hip?

That is the most absurd thing I have seen on this page.

So Crowd order asked to disperse.....crowd ordered to disperse......crowd refuses to dsperse.....dispersal agent introduced = unjustified force.

Yep. You are finally starting to understand. Cops disobeyed order to insure safety. Definately use of excessive force.
