Once the baton comes down on the protestor, even once, unjustified force has been used. Whether it was excessive or not, and whether I described it accurately is beside the point. I guess you have a sliding scale of acceptable abuse of power. I categorically reject it.

After watching on a larger screen....at exactly what second do you see the officer strike him with the baton?

20

The baton clearly comes up and then down. From this angle, we can't see the if the baton actually hits the protestor, I'll give you that, but the officer clearly raised it with an intent to strike.

:dunno: This looks like the same 43 seconds that TXG posted. At what seconds was the hitting? I keep replaying it and I can't see it.

The only thing I see close was second 21. The officer raises baton but clearly the baton never went below about waist level. No where near someone laying on the ground.

Not only raised it but swung it down with obvious intent to strike. Totally unnecessary.

you really think the cop decided to strike hard only to suddenly stop at waist level? gimme a break.

Do you see how the motorcycle is on top of his ankle? Yeah, that's fake . . .
I don't see any motorcycle on top of any ankle. It looks like someone wedging his foot under a parked vehicle.

The guy starts out with one leg in front of the front wheel, then it changes to the other leg in a different position, and then he's flipped to his backside; very confusing.

Also, the cop is walking, not even riding. I don't see how he could even knock someone down with that lack of momentum.

To be honest, I've never seen a man react that way and so loudly without suffering severe life-threatening injuries or burns.

You have got to be kidding. Let me tell you as a golfer that has viewed 100's of hours of swing video.....there is a major deceleration in the down swing. But I am pretty sure most people can see that.

My father was a champion golf player who cut down his golf clubs for me when I was very little - I grew up playing golf. There was no major deceleration in that video.

That is what I was saying... That must be one strong cop...and he made it look so effortless.

Since there were others photographing the scene (in fact, they're the ones blocking our view), are there other, clearer youtubes of the event, maybe from other angles?

I have in soccer games in north africa. Those soccer players were the biggest drama queens I've ever seen.

You are seeing with your desire rather than your eyes. You can see the arm stop......without recoil.

Hopefully. BTW good catch on the switching of the legs....I missed that on the small screen too.

Just as cops cannot fire warning shots, they cannot swing the baton without intent.

Nope, I don't think the cop ever "decided to strike hard" in the first place. I think the cop drew back as a warning.
