Now you have it right. :)

Hmmm....certainly tons different going from "the first Speaker of the House ever brought up on ethics charges" (not true) to "first Speaker ever to have been disciplined for ethics violations" (true).

Nice backpedaling though.

He was the first one charged with 84 separate charges.:laugh2: Count 'em. Eighty four.

He was most likely the first to be charged with that many, just not the first to be charged. Eventually all were dropped except one. :)

Newt settled for $300,000 on the one charge. The IRS cleared all organizations involved in that one charge later.

this thread is super long............but for the conservatives on the board there's been police brutality!

The second picture is my dear friend Hannah. This woman is NOT an out of control protester. She is the sweetest most amazing woman ever....and I am proud to call her my friend. She was hit and cuffed so tightly her hands were turning purple.

Sounded like a massive witch hunt to me. Kind of like adding umpteen charges against a person for jaywalking along with a massive ticketed fine.

don't be naive.

I had it right all along. You were just trying to minimize it.:laugh2:

Post 2091 you said Newt was...

.the first Speaker of the House ever brought up on ethics charges

In post 2119 you posted this link....

Newt Gingrich - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Which includes this....

In May 1988, Gingrich (along with 77 other House members and Common Cause) brought ethics charges against Democratic Speaker Jim Wright, who was alleged to have used a book deal to circumvent campaign-finance laws and House ethics rules

And in post #2130 you defended your wiki links by saying

Using it for personal bios is one thing...trying to use it as a research reference is quite another. But you of all people should know that with your scientific research background.

So.....

Was she there after being ordered to leave?

we can simply look at the past especially RNC convention in NYC. 2004, I believe. Over 1,800 arrests were made. About 90% of those charges were dropped. My friend's one of them. NYPD was under investigation for illegal arrests, false arrests, and fabrications. and worst - reporters found several undercover NYPD as "agents provocateurs".

NY Judge issued a warning that NYPD must immediately release them since it was beyond 24-hours limit or NYPD will be fined for every hour that prisoner is being kept in make-shift prison. I'm sure her charge will be dropped.

Not what I asked

whether or not if she was there after being ordered to leave is of no importance. her charge will be dropped without doubt. why? see post #2153.

proof - Post #2052. and an ADer in here have joined him too. arrested too. charges will be dropped without doubt too.

First.... Scott Olsen... and now Kayvan Sabeghi. Both are veterans. Sabeghi was U.S. Army Ranger and an Iraq War veteran.

32-year-old Kayvan Sabeghi suffered a lacerated spleen after being beaten by Oakland PD officers near the protesters’ encampment in Frank Ogawa Plaza. He was taken to jail and reportedly denied medical attention for 18 hours, despite having visible wounds and complaining of strong pain.

Friend and business partner Esther Goodstal told the Associated Press after the incident that Sabeghi was not involved with Occupy Oakland, and was returning home from dinner the night of the raid.

She claimed at the time that he had come across a line of police outside his apartment, and was not allowed through. Just-surfaced video from the night in question shows Sabeghi nonviolently confronting the officers, thought it is unclear if he was being prevented from passing through.

It is quite clear, however, that the beating he received was unprovoked and wildly disproportionate.

Sabehgi can be heard telling a police officer that he is a war vet just before being struck by a baton. Photographer Neil Rivas, who captured the footage and was witness to the entire incident, says Sabehgi did nothing to warrant such a response.

“There were no curse words,” he told The Guardian.

“He was telling them he was a war vet, a resident of Oakland, a business owner.” Rivas added that, even while he was being beaten, Sabehgi still didn’t fight back.

An Oakland PD spokeswoman said the incident was being investigated.

good job... beating down US Army Ranger who fought for our rights to free speech and defended our country from tyranny.

Newt Gingrich, who is riding a wave of conservative support following the surprise resurrection of his presidential campaign, has a few choice words for Occupy Wall Street protesters: “Go get a a job right after you take a bath.”

Oh yeah, and stop using those public restrooms.

OWS news: Newt Gingrich doesn

Yeah right, "Just returning from dinner". I'm sure he always wears a bandana to dinner. And he is standing toe to toe with police and saluting them.....I am sure he is just trying to clarify things. Had he obeyed the police, he wouldn't be injured. Simple.
