A) All but one charge against Newt was dropped.

B) Speaker Wright was charged before Newt and you said Newt was....

Doesn't matter. Newt is still the only speaker of the house to have been disciplined on ethics charges, no matter which way you try to spin it.

Speaker Wrght was not charged. He was the target of an investigation. He resigned before ethics charges were filed.

THE ETHICS CHARGES AGAINST JIM WRIGHT : No Violations Found in Speaker's Ties to S&Ls
April 18, 1989|RONALD J. OSTROW | Times Staff WriterWASHINGTON — The House Ethics Committee ruled Monday that House Speaker Jim Wright (D-Tex.) may have been "intemperate" but that he did not violate House rules when he intervened with federal regulators on behalf of beleaguered Texas savings and loans--including an alleged attempt to have one hard-nosed official fired on grounds that he was homosexual.

"While it may well be that Rep. Wright was intemperate in his dealings with representatives of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the committee is not persuaded that there is reason to believe that he exercised undue influence in dealing with that agency," the committee's report said.

Is somebody actually using a Wikipedia as a source link?

Yep. And it is correct. Beats the heck out of the op-ed right wing sites you try to pass off.:laugh2:

Using it for personal bios is one thing...trying to use it as a research reference is quite another. But you of all people should know that with your scientific research background.

Even one of the Wikis she quoted in post #2129 said it

Newt Gingrich - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So? What's your point? Newt was still the only speaker of the house to have been disciplined and fined for ethics violations. He was guilty as sin.:laugh2:

If the charges against Newt were revenge, why wasn't revenge taken on the other 77? LOL And remember...Newt was brought up on 84 charges total.

And the evidence regarding Gingrich's eithics charges can be supported by other soruces other than Wiki.

So, you are sticking with "Charges were not filed"?

He was investigated. It was dropped.

How about addressing old Newt being found guilty and disciplined? The first Speaker ever to have been disciplined for ethics VIOLATIONS. Not charges, VIOLATIONS.

He was still the first and only speaker of the house to have been disciplined for ethics violations.:laugh2: Can't get around it, can't go under it, can't go over it.:laugh2:

Never tried. But to say he was the "first charged" is incorrect.
