"if every child (hearing and deaf) learns sign in school, deafness would no longer be considered a disability"
only if,
and I disagree, because it is a fantasy blown out proportion, much like for the audist thinking; "if every deaf child learns to speak in school, deafness would no longer be a disability"...it is just the think kind of wishful thinking but at the other extreme from the other side of the continuum of Hearing ...>>>...HOH/Hearing Impaired...>>>...Deaf
sorry i just dont think it's workable, deafness and disability is not just the language issue, its the societial behaviour towards different people.
Wiping out differences, its gonna be like wiping out colours, we Need variety or else the world is Dead.
