I used to work for Police Criminal Unit in London and withnessed everyday what and how police officers did.

Yes, it´s very hard for me to understand US police officer´s manner way. It explains why many Americans disrespect Police officers and have First and Fourth amendment protects them from police officer´s unreasonable treatment.

then surely - you should be able to understand officer's position.

Funny - you worked for police unit in London.... and yet you have an extreme agenda against the police. You currently work for US military..... and yet you have an extreme agenda against them.

What's going on in here.... :hmm: Are you a double agent, serving as an agitator? :hmm:

My co-workers and I agreed that Gates is a raciophobic and overreacted but we also agreed that the Police Officer is also overreacted as well.
Koko - Noooo. According to othe police officers and witnesses, it was Gates who overeacted and acted like a pompous and arrogant fool. Gates followed protocol to the letter. As did other officers assisting him.

No, Gates was arrested as soon as he stepped out onto porch from his home, not a public place.

Accord the article, the tapes prove that Crowley had identified Gates while they were both still *inside* the house. Koko - pretty obvious you did not read the police reports. Crowley already established with certainty *after* Gates finally showed him is university ID card. Ever wonder why the Harvard cops arrived? It was then Crowley had to step outside to move away from Gates who was already yelling and ranting and calling Crowley a racist. Gates instead followed Crowley outside. Crowley was trying to talk on the radio. Gates wouldn't shut up. Crowley warned him once. Gates wouldn't shut up. Public disorderly. Crowley once again warned Gates to calm down while pulling out his handcuffs. Gates refused to obey a simple order. So, he was arrested. Read the time line again in the police report and articles and see how events unfolded first.
Police Release Audio in Gates Case - WSJ.com

The Associated Press: Gates 911 call: Witness not sure she sees crime

http://www.amnation.com/vfr/Police report on Gates arrest.PDF

That original story, as far as we know, came from Crowley's own report. Koko - plus a corroborating report from another police officer.

How do we know that Gates acted out? Koko - acted out? In what respect?

If you assume that Crowley made an accurate report but the tape showed that it’s not evidence of yelling. If he doing his duty, he would have left once he identified the homeowner. Koko - read the report. Understand there are protocols in place. Gates only showed his Harvard ID card which is why he called Harvard police. Gates was getting ready to leave the house when Gates started acting up and followed Crowley outside. He wouldn't stay quiet. He was warned twice. And was arrested for public disordly.
Both the 911 tape and the dispatch tape do not support the Crowley’s claims. Koko - they do. Listen to it. The tapes corroborated some of the details in his report..

To me, it´s not about race but false arrest and fabricated on police reports! Koko - When a person is warned repeatedly by a cop to do as they're told and the person continue to disobey a police's order the person runs the risk of getting arrested. Gates ignored Crowley's two warnings before he was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Accord to the side of Gates´s story, why should he apologize Crowley when he know he did nothing wrong? Koko - disobeying a police warning (twice) and being combative in public can be grounds for arrest. This isn't about apology. This is about Gates purposely ignoring police warnings to cease and desist his actions.

Obama acknowledged his error and invite Crowley and Gates to have a beer with him. What´s your point? Koko - Obama never apologized publicly. You see, Obama attacked Crowley on national tv saying he acted stupidly when it was Gates who acted stupidly. Obama was wrong to open his mouth. No wonder a black female Cambridge cop who support Crowley will not vote for Obama the 2nd time. Good for her!

My comments are in red

Seriously, I wondered about that.

it neither agree with you nor disagree with me :)

No, it´s not my word but the links of Mass. law, I posted 2 days ago. ;)

then please post both sides from authentic, major news source like I did.... not from biased site with specific agenda.

Are you saying that Gates´s own statement and also his lawyer as well is false that´s because Gates choose his own blog to make statement?

You think Police Officer´s report is reliable then is your ignorant for not bother to look the facts, I posted 911 caller in Gates arrest never referred to 'black suspects' - CNN.com yesterday or check at websites.

Crowley´s report, he claimed that he talked with 911 Caller Lucia Whalen. Lucia told him that witnessed claimed that "two Black males..." were involved is not true because Lucia said that she NEVER talked to Crowley and never said the word "black".

Crowley described Lucia as a white female which is not true, Lucia´s skin is olive. Why Crowley claim that he saw and talked to Lucia?

Both 911 Callers and audio tapes do not support Crowley´s claim. It prove that Gates did not yell or scream. Accord Gates´s statement and his lawyer, they have proof with Doctor where he was in China that Gates suffers broncil, it couldn´t be possible that he yell.

Do you expect me believe Crowley´s statement about Gates after learn that he lied in his report?

from Liebling source:
been reading the comments there. :P

This is his/her opinion like you, me and everyone. :) The fact is we have both sides of the story between Police Officer and Gates. It´s up to everyone to judge their story.

then surely - you should be able to understand officer's position.

Seriously, I wondered about that.

I never said that I am against Police officer but explain why it´s very hard for me to understand US police officer´s manner way for treat civilians.

Re-read my post #129 more carefully.

My comments are in red

All of the red comments, you made is from Police Officer´s report toward Gates´s behavior.

I can see that you don´t want to see the fact that we learn yesterday that Police Officer lied in his report. Do you expect me to beleive Police´s report over Gates? Audio tapes and 911 caller do not support Police Officer´s claim. It proves that Gates did not yell or scream. All what Gates state is true, not Police Officer.

Again, I am left wondering......at the stupidity of all this.

and yours as well

that´s because I posted the CNN article to prove you that 911 caller and audio tapes do not support police officer´s claim? How am I stupid and ignorant? Sorry, you make no sense. The problem is you and Koko for refuse to see that the police officer lied.

I'm talking about Gates'. :cool2:

Because you beleive police officer´s lies.

And Obama

Obama acknowledged his error and invite Crowley and Gates to have a beer with him. What´s your problem?

GOP/Republicians were stupid to accuse Sayormayor as a racist. (See my other thread few weeks ago). They did not apologize her and invite her to have a drink with them.

Don't worry about GOP/Republicans. It's called Free Speech. However - Obama is the President of United States and he speaks for all. He misspoke and made mistake. What do you propose on what he should do about it?

public apology, for starter :hmm:

Sergeant at eye of storm says he won't apologize
Now, 16 years later, he stands accused of racism by Gates, one of the foremost scholars on race in America. Gates had just arrived home to his Cambridge house from a trip abroad to find his front door stuck shut. As he and the driver who brought him from the airport tried to push it open, a passerby called police with a report of a possible break-in. Crowley arrived and demanded that Gates, now inside, show him identification. Crowley’s police report said Gates behaved belligerently when he questioned him, which Gates denied. Authorities dropped the charge Tuesday after it ignited accusations of racism.

But people who know Crowley were skeptical or outright dismissive of allegations of racism. A prominent defense lawyer, a neighbor of Crowley’s, his union, and fellow officers described him yesterday as a respected, and respectful, officer who performs his job well and has led his colleagues in diversity training.

“He’s evenhanded and, in the cases I’ve had with him, he’s been very much in control and very professional,’’ said Joseph W. Monahan III, a criminal defense lawyer in Cambridge and former Middlesex County prosecutor. Monahan has represented several defendants arrested by Crowley for domestic assaults and for drunken driving.

Crowley himself, speaking to the Globe yesterday and again last night in Natick, said he will not apologize and asserted, “I am not a racist.’’

Crowley’s police union issued a statement saying it had reviewed the arrest of Gates and expressed “full and unqualified support’’ for his actions.

“Sergeant Crowley is a highly respected veteran supervisor with a distinguished record in the Cambridge Police Department,’’ said the Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association. “His actions at the scene of this matter were consistent with his training, with the informed policies and practices of the Department, and with applicable legal standards.’’

The city’s Police Review and Advisory Board, which is independent of the Police Department, has set a meeting July 29 to decide whether to launch a formal inquiry into the incident, according to board investigator Joseph Johnson. He said Gates had not filed a complaint with the board and that no one has filed a complaint against Crowley in the last 12 months.

Verina Crowley said her sons were raised mostly in the Fresh Pond neighborhood where she still lives, attended racially diverse Cambridge public schools, and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, where she worked for 26 years.

“He is not a racist,’’ she said in the hallway of her home. And Gates “is not the first black person he ever met in his life.’’

Her children, she said, had black friends over to their home while growing up. James Crowley is still friends with one of those youngsters, now a Cambridge firefighter, she said.

“They grew up with black kids, white kids, kids who didn’t have parents, kids who had two parents - everything you can think of,’’ she recalled. Tolerance “wasn’t something you taught,’’ she said. “You just lived it.’’

:hmm:

Because you beleive police officer´s lies.

Koko - Events were corroborated by several individuals in Crowley's defense. Gates was just a pompous ass spouting words of hate using the race card for naught. As far as I can tell, even with the Cambridge police supporting Crowley, Crowley told the truth. And that truth was backed up. Plain and simple.

Obama acknowledged his error and invite Crowley and Gates to have a beer with him. What´s your problem? Koko - To have your name smeared and accused on national television by the U.S. president saying that Crowley "acted stupidly" requires a direct and public apology from Obama. Right now, Obama is nothing than a gutless wonder boy if he can't bring himself to apologize publicly. He wasn't smart enought to should kept his mouth shut in the first place.[/B] [/B]

GOP/Republicians were stupid to accuse Sayormayor as a racist. (See my other thread few weeks ago). They did not apologize her and invite her to have a drink with them.

She is a racist. She views her ethnic experience as superior. After all, with her association with la Raza ("the race" in Spanish) begs the question on how racist that organization is. Imagine an all white organization called itself "The Race," you can bet that the MSM will show their hypocrisy by going after "The Race", a white organization. However, this is a different story. This is about a U.S. president who used his position to slander and malign a good officer's name. Instead Obama should have kept his mouth shut the whole time. Everytime he opens his mouth he just manage to mess things up.

The article you posted dated 23rd July but the article I posted dated 27th July (yesterday).

Nice try... :)

so 4 days later... did gates file a complaint against Crowley?

did you even read the article at all? it's mostly about Crowley and his professionalism. and disputing the claim that Crowley is racist.

Don't worry about GOP/Republicans. It's called Free Speech.

Huh? You complained in many posts about Gates for accuse Police Officer as a racist and then said it´s GOP/Republicians´s free speech...

However - Obama is the President of United States and he speaks for all. He misspoke and made mistake. What do you propose on what he should do about it?

Again, Obama accept his responsible for his own word which he should choose those word differently than those word "acted stupidity". He did not denied it, don´t he?

public apology, for starter :hmm:

Yes he did.

Huh? You complained in many posts about Gates for accuse Police Officer as a racist and then said it´s GOP/Republicians´s free speech...
are you confused, my fair lady? GOP/Republicans are free to criticize Sotomayer and they were not dealing with cops right at their faces. Gates is free to spout nonsense as well but if the officer tells you to calm down and cooperate when investigating the possible crime, you have to do it.

Again, Obama accept his responsible for his own word which he should choose those word differently than those word "acted stupidity". He did not denied it, don´t he?

Yes he did.
no he didn't. He did not go to stage and say - "I'm sorry." He backpedaled and hoped to make press go away by inviting them over for a beer.

Yes he did.

Obama NEVER apologized for his damaging and false remarks.

Michigan lawmaker Thaddeus McCotter introduced a legislation on Monday demanding that President Obama aplogize to Cambridge police officer James Crowley. McCotter pushes Obama apology res. - First Read - msnbc.com

So, no. You are incorrect that Obama already apologized. He hasn't and certainly will try and avoid any semblance of an apology. He's a gutless coward.
