Does need approve about my OCD pills? It helps me alot.

And babbling about nerves???? CI's are NOT attatched to nerves. They are inside the cochlea. It STIMULATES the nerve - without touching....

OCD is a mental illness. It is NOT caused by a CI or anything like that. There are SO many people that have OCD but DO NOT HAVE A CI. If you got OCD, it had NOTHING to do with having a CI. You must have some other reason that triggered the OCD.

And, OCD doesn't always develop when you are young. Some young children will develop OCD, some teenagers will develop OCD, some adults, young or old, will develop OCD. It can happen at ANY age.

OCD can be treated. There are medications for it. There is therapy.

Now, repeat after me..."CIs does NOT cause OCD"...

I do not believe you... i have CI'ers friends they all dont have OCD... they all are intelligent.... You make up story... no proven facts...if you have proof.. where is link??? i want to see it...

You don't respect my opinion.

I said that not all cases got OCD but few cases got it since it was tested with counselor and she believe that can be CI related, also she gave some question about CI and that all I had answer it. Sorry, I don't have any link but it was from rumors that what counselor said. I'm interesting what she said about CI and if she start observation then accept it and not need loyal with CI.

You don't have CI and I don't want listen about your BS.
 
Your counseler is mistaken.

Not all of us on this thread are going to get CIs and I have the feeling that sxyporkie isn't interested in getting a CI for herself. I could be wrong of course. However, we are interested in setting the record straight.

Yes, we are.

There is absolutely NO data whatsoever to suggest that CI's cause or in any way influences the development of OCD.

As already pointed out by others in the thread, OCD is a mental illness. If someone wants to bother, they can pull up the criterior for the diagnosis of OCD. If they do, they will NOT see cochlear implant listed anywhere in the criterior.

Incidently, I am a hearing person with OCD (amongst, my many other diagnoses which I will not name). The idea that CIs cause OCD is upsurd.

Lets look at this for a min...

The CI is an implanted device. On that, we can ALL agree. OCD is involved in brain chemistry. We can all agree on this, too. People think the cochear implant is implanted in the brain. It's NOT. It's implanted in the cochlea. So, if OCD is a disorder involving brain chemistry, and the CI is not implanted in the brain, how can the two be related?

Answer: It's NOT!
 
Now, time for move on...

That's none of my business about bring debate about CI.

For your information.. i did get interested in getting CI few yrs ago.. I was candidate..(sp).. but i chickened out.. until few months ago i got tested.. i cannot have CI due to two light strokes.. i accepted this... i am happy...

this thread is about CI... you need to read from beginning... it was about IQ decreasing due to CI.... now you added it to it claimed it is OCD... it is all baloney..... CI had not caused anything since they have vaccinations for megenitis (sp).... now you claimed it had decreased your IQ .. now you think you have OCD due to CI.... you started this.... we all know it is not true.... ci is like internal hearing aid.,,,,it has not caused anything except helping them to hear .. some failed.. due for some reasons...

You are doing fine... eveyone does have some kind of mental diseases like biplar.. depressions... etc.... i had acute depression one time.. ended up in hospital for two weeks.... put on medications... now i am ok... i am not on anti-depression medication anymore.... To my opinion you are intelligent...

Thank you, but this isn't about me. It's about whether OCD is caused by the CI, and it's NOT. I only referenced myself to say that I am hearing and I have OCD.

Yeah i understood... some deafies without CI did have OCD... it has nothing to do with CI.. no proof...
 
Several people got no benefits for CI due their nerves have collasped from birth, such as my VR counselor.

Well, its good that things like this are brought up. The more people realize the myths; the better we can educate people.

As stated, I'm hearing, and I don't know everything about CIs. When I first became aquainted with the device, I thought it was implanted in the brain. I termed it "brain surgery". It obviously isn't, but I didn't know that. I thought since the incision was on the head, that made it brain surgery. I was wrong. As time has gone on, I learned more. Thats what this is about...Educating people to what the CI is, and what it can do. Volcom's assertion that CIs cause OCD is wrong, but it was still worth discussing in the thread. I'd rather discuss this than be discussing whether the CI will lower the IQ or not. That's an even more idiotic statement, in my opinion.

You are correct. Some won't benefit from the CI. But, some will. Why are you so negative against it?
