It's something that you become attuned to with time and practice (just like learning to play an instrument)
I play piccolo and have no problem whatsoever feeling the pitches at all - it's about learning HOW you feel them that is the "tricky" part which most hearing people don't "get" because they primary use their ears to listen to SOUNDS instead of using their BODY to interpret (listen to) vibrations
Agreed. I am from a very musical family. And it isn't just pitch you feel, it is timbre, as well. I feel different instruments and different voices in various parts of my body. For instance, my SO is an R&B and blues singer with a big old round voice. I can feel it reaching my chest area and then just surrounding me. My nephew, also and R&B and blues singer has a voice that I feel crawling up my arms. When the two of them hit a really tight harmony, I get cold chills all over my body. A trumpet will hit me in the chest area. A bass gets me in the solar plexis. I used to think that everyone had kinesthetic responses to musical sound, but I have since learned that it is either innate in some and taught in others.
