I thought you were Deaf?
You're busy creating an image of a stereotypical Deaf person and you can't understand why you're not accepted. Brilliant!
The problem is that not considered Deaf so that hearing people make stupid remarks about Deaf people to me. I learn which hearing people are audist real quick.
Characterizing her as a person who believes all hearing are audist
Too bad I wasn't even thinking about Sallylou when I made that comment. But, ok.
Can I ask- why would I respond to any more questions about my personal life when I'll just be labeled an Audist? It doesn't matter what I write- a select few will take it, twist it, stomp on it, eat it, then spew the hatred, nastiness and venom on to me. It seems I cannot write much about this subject without people reading into what isn't there.
Last time someone seemed sincere, I gave a genuine response. To which people took that and ran with it, throwing me in the Audism corner.
No thank you. I have no interest at this point in engaging in further conversation about my choices because no matter what I say, it will be misinterpreted to suit the needs of those who like to think that all (but one) hearing people are Audist.[/QUOTE]
See, you just refuse to accept responsibility for the kind of comments you make. When you get called out on it, you blame it on Deaf people.
If I thought all hearing people were audist, I wouldnt be married to one.
It is poeple who spew out audist comments that makes me see the person as audist.
I never characterized her as anything.
Why are you all so quick to jump on the bandwagon?

It's very disturbing when someone works with the Deaf talks about Deaf people like they are another species. Most hearing people consider me an "us" and not a "them."
I certainly consider you an "us".
Me too. I'm sure we're not the only ones who think that.
Sigh...The Ohio School for the Deaf uses an oral approach to educating children. It is not a Deaf school.
Thanks, ya'll. It only happens in real life when I'm talking to a hearing person alone with no Deaf people around. Most hearing people don't believe that someone like me would ever consider themselves Deaf. It's wierd.
Now? The school was signing back in my time. I met them when my alma mater, St. Rita girl's team played basketball against theirs.
It never ceases to amaze me how you think ... interesting.
