Censorship

what about it? it's so broad.... do you have anything specific in mind? I guess I'll put out my broad opinion - yes we do need some mild form of censorship because we're surrounded by stupid/ignorant people or people who cannot handle the truth.

????? Do you not understand my post? The link you provided talks about the censorship of various subjects and how each country censor it. My opinion still applies. I don't believe in full disclosure because people are too stupid to handle the truth.
 
Censorship left us high amount of curiosity.

When I was in high school, I recall government of Cincinnati attempt to censor the photographs which created by late Robert Mapplethorpe. It caused me got curious and went there then I see why the government tried to censor the controversy arts.

Censorship is something the government aren't prepared for.

now that's different. you're talking about some cultural-related matter like books and controversial arts. the link that liebling provided is about wars, UFO, torture, etc... you know - the "government secret."

is it possible something with fianicial that governemnt did not want us to make $$ i know my talking is off the point.
 
Exceptions to freedom of speech in America (these are off the top of my head, so I may be missing some):

- You cannot yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater unless there is a fire.
- No speech that presents a "clear and present danger".
- No false advertising.
- You cannot divulge classified information.
- You cannot commit perjury.
- Defamation, libel, and slander are not protected.
- Obscene material has limited protection. Child pornography has no protection.
- The government may make reasonable restrictions on time, place, and manner of speech.

Other than that, you may say anything that is enlightening, inspiring, noble, intelligent, humble, truthful, stupid, worthless, hateful, bigoted, arrogant, offensive, etc.

Conspiracy is nasty word for government, LOL. Why is only word I will ask the government.

It just sounds so cartoonish! I almost expect it to say "Go, go, Power Rangers!"

Seriously, freedom of speech only refers to the government's right to limit speech. It does not apply to private entities. For example, alldeaf.com may ban religious speech because it is a privately owned website. If it were a government entity, that would be unconstitutional.

Oh gotcha, i misunderstand... i believe so that they aren't prepare. same idea that the government control people who work with advertising ideas such as naked, or hard drinks etc.
 
You have freedom of speech as long as it does not infringe on others rights and freedoms.
 
I'm against censorship but support rules, regulations and due process to obtain the information needed or freedom of expression.

For example it is not infringement of your rights or censorship to have rules and laws to protect minors and other people. You can not curse out loud in a family resturant.

Also in forums like this it is the owners individual right to place his/her rules that we should follow. This is not cenrship but conduct. You still can express your opinions but must do so in respectable manor.

I consider censorship offensive when it is a deliberate attempt to strangle your free speech rights or to deliberately present misinformation or propaganda.

Certainly common sense should prevail.

That depends, do the public deal with the government secret very well. For example, do the public ready to accept the fact UFO is exist. I myself government shouldn't censor the secret as well.
 
In regards to UFOs - if they exist and the government is hiding that fact, well, the truth is going to come out or later. Would you rather deal with the shock now, or when the aliens are at your doorstep.
