Car accident

It's illegal for our police departments to charge for the first copy. They're required to provide the reports to the drivers. They can only charge for extra copies.

That's what I was thinking. I remember paying to police department for a report but.... was it a copy? that's what I was trying to remember :hmm:

I know all the ones I have had to get were free. All 2 of them.

I am 34 here. I don't know you had to pay for accident report. That should be illegal to pay for an accident report!

Glad that is not serious damage!
also you are not hurt as well :)

aaah..

and for Foxrac, glad you are ok, it's nothing worse than this below, got t-boned and knock off the door. Other pix is original.

I got t boned by a teenage driver and my car was totaled! The kid was 100% at fault , I got a settlement from the kid's insurance. The kid's dad tried to say the accident was my fault but I had 3 witnesses saying it was the kid fault.

That's good to hear about you got settlement from insurance.

Not all people are honest and they want to lie to make our fault because they don't want to be responsible and pay any damages.

Own the car require responsibility and understanding of traffic safety.

That's true. In my first accident, a guy crossed four lanes and hit me head on. He tried to say it was my fault! He even claimed I wasn't the driver of my own car. I don't know why he lied so much. He had diplomatic immunity, so nothing could happen to him. At least his insurance paid for my damages. It was still traumatic and inconvenient. My car was never the same again. It wasn't even a year old when it was hit. It was a little two-seat sports car, and the other guy hit me with a older Lincoln Continental (very big, heavy car).

(My car was a Porsche 914, which means there was no engine in the front, so it crumpled up pretty good; no air bags back then either.) My co-workers were surprised to see me at work the next day. They saw the car after the wreck, and they assumed I was dead!

That driver who hit me was such a liar!

Wow, that's happened during 1970's or 1980's?

During 2005 accident, the guy in jeep drove too fast, too way over the speed limit so I tried to turn to left but CRASHED on front car. My tummy hurts so badly after buckle pulled it up too tight and my leg hit the dashboard. My head got hit on airbag that went POPPED as white cushion. I was cried so badly because my tummy is very painful and difficult to walk. One other driver stopped the car and came to help me so he is witness as well. The guy in jeep told it is my fault but other driver said it is none at fault because he told guy that guy drove too fast and the guy in jeep admitted that he did. We told everything what happened to police so my car got totaled. Our insurance paid the car loan off and gave some leftover to my parent. The guy in jeep used his insurance to fix the jeep. I went to see pediatrician in next day for full evaluation and do x-ray on my body so result is all normal. I got bruise on my knee and skin pull apart on right arm.

The body shop told me that condition of car should be serious injuries or fatal, especially broken legs so he's surprised that I'm up with minimal condition. The pain in tummy area gone in few days.

I'm happy you are ok! For all of you who drive, you are braver than I am. I still don't have my driver's license because I'm too afraid to drive. :Ohno:

Bad news...

My aunt discovered this woman was lie about insurance. This woman who hit my car doesn't have insurance because her driver license is suspended, however she used her husband's driver license instead. She is still driving while her driver license is suspended, it is illegal.

I'm very angry about this situation and my aunt spoke with police about situation with car accident. They said the parking at Publix is private property so they cannot ask this woman to present the driver license and insurance information. I told her about it is crime to put false information on police report (forgery) and it is felony as well. I'm going discuss with police department about situation with car accident and forgery on accident report, if not so I will discuss with sheriff or state police.

Our insurance will pay for repair but not sure about deductible and we do have uninsured motor coverage. My aunt told me that our insurance will bill to collection agency and try to force her or her husband to pay.

I'm not sure about lawsuit and we are working on it to make best decision.

Now, I'm very sad about my car got minor damage and it wasn't my fault. :(

Oh, wow, that sure is a twist of events. I hope it works out OK for you.

yep. that was my first guess. sorry to hear though....

this is typically what usually happens. as long as you have that driver's license and insurance info and a police report citing that you are not at fault... your insurance company will pay for your damage and your insurance company will sort it out with their insurance company.

this, of course, depends on what insurance company you got and what type of service you got. for me - I got Progressive with premium service covering everything including uninsured driver, broken window, etc.

there won't be any lawsuit involved. it's very costly and time-consuming. not worth pursing expensive legal action over simple bumper fender. lawsuit is only involved when there is a serious accident that results in extremely expensive medical expense and extreme economic loss due to accident that goes beyond insurance's cap limit (usually as high as $250,000 per person).

so right now... there's really nothing you can do. it's something that insurance companies and police department will have to deal with. as long as your car get fixed with expense all paid for.... that's all it matters.

Yup, I'm not going pay deductible but my family will because I'm on limited income (not SSI) and have to focus on other payments.

I'm surprised that you have to pay the deductible since you weren't at fault.
