Can't we all get along?

Where should I have put this topic? BTW, I don't agree. I think these political buffoons that fill our airwaves have a lot to do with the attitudes of a lot of subversives that are not yet famous. The quotes are from two people affected by this shooting.
Has there been any proof that Loughner even listened to radio or TV political programs?

He had an altar with a skull in the back yard. How does that fit in with "political buffoons that fill our airwaves?" Which "buffoon" recommended that?

People get gunned down all the time. The media only cares because she's "important." I'm not trying to be cold here, but the media portrays what they want. And now they're making it a political statement.

bajagal is correct there, its all for sensation, just only because it SELLS...AND it also a political tool to set up public to buy in any 'new topics' to make believe 'thats' what's politics is about' in reality its FAR FROM IT....politics is often not what we think it really is... and not im not saying theres something sinister (but it happens)it just we dont really *understand* the world we live in just because what we see and we hard about...

Right. My bad. Freedom of speech and all that. As you were.

Yep. No reason to worry. Let's keep those guys pumping out the venom on the airwaves. These nutcases are in no way affected or inspired by them. Only the serious, level-headed voters are able to listen/read these guys and glean proper opinions.

*sarcasm time*
You know, these guys that made the quotes I pasted on top, they are probably Liberals that are making this entire thing into a Conservative-bashing event. Liberals will stop at nothing to garner your sympathy. They are scum and deserve to be defeated at election time. Better to not make "crosshair" references for a couple of weeks. :giggle:

Others are liberal, soft-hearted, spoiled and immoral.

How can we get along?

I'm not trying to group this killer as a Conservative. What I am saying is that these hotheaded media blowhards that stir the anger pot are having a negative effect on the country. Why has the divide between the two parties gotten so huge?

There are more of these guys lurking out there, unknown for now. Someday soon, they will step out from the shadows and attempt to change history.

So, are you saying that we should stop freedom of speech for the sake of a minority group of psychos?

Sort of like obama.

Regardless of whether the killer was motivated by political rhetoric, it is good that this event has brought about a serious discussion on the language that pervades our society. My fear is that this very legitimate issue that has needed addressing for years, is going to be swept aside by all the people trying to defend themselves saying, "Oh, but the guy was just a nutcase..." and "this wasn't politically motivated."

I don't care if there isn't a strong connection between the shooting and the current acidic climate in politics; something needs to change.

Eh here is the sad truth, this will be a hot topic and people will "talk" about its effects and how it needs to change but no "action" will be done. Something else will come up and this will be swept under the rug until the next one does it again.

I guess people are confused because there are no Muslims to blame. Now what?

I think you are, sadly, correct. The reason is because there is no "action" that can be done here on a policy level. Change in this case has to start at the individual, fundamental level, and I just don't think most people are able or willing to recognize that.

AMEN!!! the same day six people, including a 11 year old boy, were murdered in Houston. Did they make the front page?---do I really need to answer that? The local newcast gave only two minutes for the boy and none for the others. And yet, they pre-empt regular scheduled shows to do Az.
Tomorrow they will do the same thing to show Obama make a photo apperance. Wonder if he will cry. Seriously doubt it.

Right. Something along the lines of "If you're not like me, I hate you."
