Boys: At What Age Would You Consider....

I don't think spermicide will protect you from STD. Can you still get pregnant and be safe from STD from wearing a condom. If not, It is just as bad as not wearing a condom at all.

No, the couple should use the spermicide in addition to the condom to increase the condom's effectiveness. Both condom and spermicide together will give protection against STD and pregnancy. It prevents the surprise pregnancy that often occur with condoms alone. Not 100% effective, of course. Birth control pills are most effective.

Deafgoatlady, there is something to be said for having children while you are still young. The pregnancy is easier and you have more energy as a young parent. I'm still rearing an elementary school age child and some of my high school class mates are becoming grandparents already! There were benefits to waiting until I was older to have children, like being more stable and resources. It seems to work out for the best no matter how you do it!

did you or your mate check the condom before using it? was the condom stored where it should be, at room temperature? what about the expiration date?
Ive had countless failed condoms. All brand new out of the box. At room temperature, even. (and they do fit sung.)
you know that condoms aren't 100% effective against pregnancy, though. my mom was on birth control and she got pregnant with my sister. i don't know, it's up to the person.. so far i haven't had any problems and i still support safe sex education. :dunno:

My daughter arrived via the use of BC injection.

To the OP -

What I would do is: just sit down and talk with the kid, tell him.. "Yo, The girls are going to be after you anytime soon, and I have been there. I just want you to be smart and take care of yourself. I'd prefer you to stay away from it, but if you need to, use the condoms."

When my mom found my box of condoms - she handed me lifesavers (candy) and said I would need it if I ever had a kid at 16.

Yeah, basically that is what I did....talk to him about it. He just got a new wallet for Xmas....so I'm also gonna make sure 2 condoms are in there also....Thks for the input!

pretty much yeah, wallets aren't exactly room temperature. you're better off putting it in a pocket when you think you're getting lucky on that night :P
My friend told me the same thing but my other one expressed it wrongly. But these condoms doesn't prove any effectively anyway

Say what? !!... Don't put them into ur wallet?...I thought most guys do that....MY 15 yr. old isn't gonna walk around with a condom just in his pocket, especially not to school or the mall.....I don't think he's at the age of thinking "I might get lucky".....and stick it into his pocket.....The reason I gave them to him is becuz things might get out of control, not planned!

So maybe I gave him the condoms for nothing.....I'm not about to encourage him to have sex, I hope he will refrain from going too far, but if it does happen, I just want him to be protected from STD's and getting the girl pregnant....jeez, this is getting complicated here!....What am I supposed to do now? Duct tape his penis??

ChristianCondoms.com <---- here you go LOL (ok, that was weird site and surprising )

mom used to give us condom. We NEVER used it. And it got old and worn And we were afraid she'll suspect someone if we took it. We were tempted to make a balloon out of it. LOL...

That reminds me of one sex education class many years ago - we were all have to learn how to put on a condom, including girls too -- one of them were playing with the condom as like putting it on the head and blow it up, even make ballons

is appropriate to give them condoms?

My oldest son (now 18), I gave them to him at age 15 after finding out he was sexually active......Now my middle son was 15 last July. He's more sports inclined, but the girls are now "catching his eye." He has sideburns, which he does shave off, a mustache and fuzz on his chin, he's looking so manly! The girls are calling....

I'm a single parent (female), and I have somewhat "preached" abstinance to all 3 of my sons....but to be on the safe side, I did provide them condoms.

I'm wondering if I've done the right thing? It's not like I've given them permission to have sex, I told them that I wish they would wait. But knowing teenagers and their hormones and not being able to be around them 24/7....I felt like giving them condoms would be better.

What do you think?
My father gave me one when I was 16 - only few days before I went to Deaf Camp, that condom was never used for three years, so I threw it out - replaced with new ones, since the old one expired soon after.

Think of all the abuse a wallet gives to the condom. Latex is not exactly friction proof in these conditions. The repeated sitting down/ standing up abuses the ring then it is more likely to break.

Does he have a backpack or something? Or a car?

yeah, there something creepy about using the condom your parents got you. Just about most of my friends never use it. They just go to the store and buy one for themselves.

I guess we need to do a poll: Did you use the condom your parent got you?

Why dont they prove to be effective? Got a STD?

Check these "new" ones out, make sure they're not expired.

No I dont have STD, and I know practically well whatI'm doing.

I have already checked on my new ones ages ago.
