Black Friday Worker Stampeded to Death

just knew it i had this feelings and i am not risk my life to do so today so
i am taking myself easy ofc course i did some shopping early and i am almost finished
whew

Awful story on Black Friday today. That s very cautious! I don't need to go any stores on Black Friday. I can order any items at low cost by ebay, amazon, and other business stores online.

Damn that's fucked up.

I hope all those shoppers who did that are caught and arrested. This is no excuse to run over a person over some stupid shopping.

I did my black friday shopping online this morning over a nice cup of coffee and in my pajamas. You can often find the same deals online as you would in the stores, you just have to wait a week or so for your purchase to arrive on your doorstep.

I have however gone to Wal-Mart on black friday - OMBG! I will NEVER NEVER NEVER do that again! It was crazy. Mom said I was crazy, I said no, crazy was all around me, crazy was watching two old ladies fighting over a damn Furby (remember those?), crazy was watching people push each other out of line at the checkouts, crazy was trying NOT to get lost or trampled in the stampede of shoppers, most of which are easily 2 or 3 times my size (remember Im only 5'4" and 130 pounds dripping wet, and still dropping weight).

If I find I must go to Wal-Mart to find a gift on my list then I will go like at 2:00 am when most folks are still in bed or too drunk to consider shopping for Christmas presents. :P

That's why I am too scared to go shopping that early on Black Friday cuz I almost got squeezed to death by a crowd of people pushing and shoving at a Macy's parade. I literally panicked and started hitting people around me to get them to move away cuz I couldnt breathe. Saving money is not worth something like this.

I wonder if any of the stores can set up a policy in which the whole Black Friday shopping craze can be done differently so something like this wont happen again. Maybe have a lottery and draw a limited number of names for people to go at different time intervals? Like, select 1,000 people to come from 5 AM to 7 AM and then another 1,000 people from 7 AM to 9 AM and so on and on...?

not lottery but "first come, first serve" along the line - allowing only x number of people in at a time.

Possibly. Some stores already handle this by allowing only 10-15 customers into the store at a time with a 2-5 minute interval between groups of people. This way not everyone is running over everyone else and not going for the same place at once. I would HATE working at Wal-Mart on Black Friday, but I am sure not a single worker gets Black Friday off from work.

Or people can get tickets with their time intervals before the holidays?

too inconvenient, too messy, too complicated... especially with these crazy mobs out there. "First Come, First Serve" is easier to enforce. just make a line and have a few security people to control the line... the shopping experience will be nice and wonderful for all without having people getting themselves trampled over.

Ok, if we do the "First Come and First Serve" suppose over 5, 000 people all show up before the doors open and right before the door opens, people start becoming aggressive with each other to be "first" in line? That means more police presence would be needed and with so many budget cuts, I dont think there would be enough manpower to maintain order at every single store.

Too messy, too inconvenient and too complicated may save a few lives..something has to give.

major malls can easily afford additional security guards just for Black Friday.

Are these security trained to handle a mass crowd and possiblity a riot? Last night, there was a near riot in the streets of Philly after the Eagles football game and I could see how quickly things can get out of control and I can just see the same thing happening in a parking lot of a Walmart at 4 AM.

That's the beauty of America. Plenty of private security firms around... there are security firms which specialize in handling mobs such as huge concert. If you noticed - that Wal-Mart hired temporary workers for this Black Friday.. now they should have hired additional security guards as well.

I dont know..I still feel that there are alternative ways to handle the crowds and stampede without having to hire extra security with the idea that it will happen. What about coming up with preventive measures?

I think Black Friday should be outlawed, period!

I hate crowds, so I will NEVER go out shopping on Black Friday, ever. Crowds bother me and make me very nervous. I don't like being around a lot of people. Thank goodness for online shopping!
