Jiro- Not being able to hear and expecting a deaf child to lip read is indeed an arduous/exhausting task. However, when a deaf/hoh child/or adult is cued to they do develop an inside voice coinciding to the visual cues of the spoken language. It is truly amazing!

Actually, it is the reverse. They are trying to put the roof on without a foundation to support it. That is why it keeps collapsing.

That is a misnomer. The only thing it cues is the phonemes. It does nothing to transmit conceptual or structural information of the English language. It cues only speech sounds. Which is why it is only used beside the mouth during speech.

Jiro - I certainly did not "suddenly change the name". :roll: Let me explain then please. Cued Speech is the name of the system ( hand shapes for consonant sounds and hand placements for vowel sounds), thus the term Cued Speech. The language that is being cued is English, thus the term Cued English. Abbreviated as: CS/CE Hope that clears it up for you.

Please offer support that a child has ever developed an "internal voice" simply from seeing cues. If that were possible, they would aslo develop an "internal voice" from seeing signs.:roll:

Well, be careful of how you design the foundation, otherwise, you'll forget to leave an opening for both a front door and a back door. A front door for primary use, and if it doesnt work, you can always go through the back door.

Better to engage in those building practices that make a back door unnecessary. All the tools for function are already there.

You sure that you're comfortable enough with those tools?.. Just in case, the front door doesn't work as well as you thought for different environments?

ASL is the foundation but people are trying to build the house without it. Instead they use CS, SEE, and Sim Com as support poles for the roof. However, when a fierce storm blows thru, the support poles give away causing the roof to crash!

Poor or good attempt at creativeness? LOL!

Yes, I am quite comfortable with those tools, as I make certain that my toolbox is always full. Unlike those who leave some tools out.

LOL! I can really have a good way with words BUT I have to be in the right mood or state of mine. I used to like this guy who was creative with English and he and I used to page each other with our own analogies.

Deaf oral skills which are learned are best!!!!! Go Deaf!!
