Bad Fellowship - Please Read

*sigh* my poor CheriTree...

Seems that we can't even discuss rationally about the Bible, religion, abortion, homosexuality, parenting, etc., etc., without being attacked left and right ...

Let's see...

I only use the Bible as a tool of my faith, I'm an excommunicated Mormon, I've had an abortion, I've given my daughter up for adoption, I'm an admitted bisexual in a committed relationship with a loving partner (my dear beloved MizzDeaf).

Does that make me a bad person?

No, I don't think so. I've just made some bad mistakes and a few wrong choices.

The point is, we're all human ~ we all make mistakes and bad choices. Common sense has nothing to do with it. Its just the way we are.

Some of us are too immersed in our own beliefs that we don't see that others have a right to their own beliefs ~ and that we all have a right to our own choices, be they right or wrong.

I'm sorry that one member was driven out, as I did enjoy playing around on AD with her.

No one has the right to do so, even when they think they have the right/power to do so. It only serves to cause problems and extends the bitterness between members.

Let this go. It's Christmas time, a time for good fellowship between ADers.

CookieMonster, I miss you. I hope you're having a merry old time, wherever you are...*pinches CM on their collective asses*

You cant report on someone unless your state has the Baker Act like they have in Florida.

Richard
The Baker Act has nothing to do with reporting bad posts on this forum. It is privately owned and the Administrator and MODS have the power to react to bad posting reports.

DAMN IT! We do NOT need another Ravensteven drama down here! I need barf bag, please pass to me.

I do not like telltale, I'd prefer giving out fair warning. But some people seems not to heed my warning and don't believe me what I have withess in the past especially with loseRS! I wouldn't press that button. Know why? Mod is bound to find out themselves anyway, so whats point of pressing button in the first place?

You wouldn't want to know, and it is not necessary to discuss. You know the RS back then. That is sufficient explaination.

What´s this thread here?

Common decency and respect do go both ways, although it can't be one sided in a way when you expect it from others... when you've been conveying your ideas with rudeness or/and posturing that make everybody uncomforable. I'd suggest acting exactly what is in your integrity, and take responsibility for it. If that fails, act your age. I'm just addressing this generally. :) Makes sense?

Maybe we just need to learn more about the finer points of debating? Maybe somebody could post a thread on how-to suggestions? Everyone's ideas would be welcomed.

From what I understand Cheri's comment. What she really means is that she wouldn't be able to handle the stresses caused by some ADers members and that she don't have much tolerance like Alex got, so in other word, Cheri praised Alex for his tolerance and able to remain cool and deal with these people. It is NOT easy job for Alex in general. I think Alex is really enjoying running the forum, but I am sure that Alex would like respect in return.

I would be in same shoe as Cheri, I would just simply dump the forum as well because there are people who lacks respect for other members. It takes enoromous patience and work to make all ADers happy. So, I give two big thumbs up for Alex and other MOD.

I have a question to ask you I hope you don't mind, was it necessary to keep bring RS into this when he's no longer a member here?... :ugh:

And I don't see what it has to do with this thread here, of course there will be times there might be an agrument, but who fault is it? instead of fingerpointing who to blame or who started it in the first place, it more of how we all post, so if we were responding to a thread or post, and we happen to disagree with what the member say, we have a choice, either respond in the best way we possible can or ignore it, and also if we see a member insulting or attacking you, do not respond, simple press the report button, and let one of the moderators take care of it not you, once you respond to it and do the same thing as this member then you're no better than him/her, cause you broke the rules also... Think about it... :aw:

Liza is right, respect goes both ways....

I don't think it's nice to finger point a member afterall we all have our own faults and there are times we don't look at oursevles on how we post or come across....That's all I wanted to add...

Peace!

I second that!!!...

I only want to remind of what had happened in the past so newbie would understand that we do NOT need them. We ran into problems with two newbies, one of them have done very similiar to RS (Not exact same but bad enough to reflect RS). We do not need to ban any ADers to start with. As of right now these newbie got stern warning from MOD and I hope they both learn from them and not mess up AD just like RS did back then. Whats more, three threads have been locked. I don't think we need to have more threads locked out.
So at least give everybody peace, and give token of gratitude for Alex and his associates for all of their valuable time to maintain our wonderful forum. Looks like another christmas gift for all of us from Alex as He continues to give deaf forum to all of us! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Merry Christmas

Ignorance is a real problem, arguments with nothing to keep it afloat in the water shouldn't be created.

That's exactly what happened yesterday and today. As you can see, I was verbally abused last night because I chose to defend some members of AD and kept on making rebuttals without getting personal. What I did was point out the errors of one's ways and shoot some truthful bullets in order to teach the person a lesson.

At least I answered questions instead of dodging them and focused on the problem. I kept pushing him to the edge causing him to send quite a colourful remark toward my way. I will only push a person when I know they are not being honest about their intentions and unveil their real opinions.

I had no intentions of ruining anybody's nights, but I just cannot let somebody making forceful approach to any of these who don't share the same opinions. In both America and Canada, people are entitled to their opinions and they are free to speak their minds. They cannot be told to keep their mouths shut in order to please one's self.

Hypocrisy is something that no one should turn a blind eye to.

Exactly! We do NOT need to be forced to believe what others believe. That is very UN-America's way! We also do NOT need to hear bragging and egoism talk from anybody. We do NOT need "Mr. Know-it-all" attitude. I had trouble approaching these people. I tried to keep myself neutral and try to remind them nice way, yet those people THINKS they know what I think and accused me for playing evil games with them, I shook my head and frowned at them.

I once was Mr. Know-it-all guy, As I grow older, I start to become more wiser. From my experience I learned ALOT by shut up and listen. In fact, the more time I listen I unveiled more serects and truth.

There is old saying "Smart people learn from somebody's else mistakes, stupid people refused to listen to somebody else's mistake and made the SAME mistakes anyway". So it is up to everybody here to chose which one, being smart or bein stupid.

Not as disappointed as I am with bible thumpers. Your fanatic beliefs drove a very good friend of mine out of this site. I do not like bible thumpers who harass my friends because of their sexuality. It is none of your buisness. So stop preaching. God, Jesus or whatever higher power others believe in make judgement. NOT selfrightous fanatics. If you do not like it here why are you here?
:smoking:
Good grief! kinda harsh, arent ya??
These bible thumpers have the freedom of speech too and if you dont like it,
just ignore it, is all.....

I just think that everyone has a right to say what they think, even the Bible~thumpers. Its just that everyone becomes so personal, and start attacking.

That's when you have a situation that's out of control ~ because everyone is taking it personally or thinking that others are saying things that apply to them and no other.

I have no problem with religion ~ its only when people start using it against me or my personal views ~ that's when I take it hard and back off quickly.

On the other hand, there are people that do not do so, but instead explain what they think of this or that and apply their own opinion to each ~ I love reading Reba's postings. She does it so gracefully, and tries not to make it a personal mission to convert every one of us or shove it down our throats and make us choke. I don't always agree with her posts, but I can often see her own logic behind them.

I know we can't al be like her, but we can do it in our own words ~ and make it the simple truth as we see it in our own way.
