AZ Congresswoman...12 others, shot

I'm just going to bypass around 200 posts in this thread and state that even though this event was a tragedy, it is only going to occur more frequently in the future.

I don't know how it's going to be solved, but I know it's still going to happen more frequently. I hope the good folks of America can find a way to solve it.

Kind of just like watching how the Dylan and Klebold saga had mini-spinoffs.

"how do we prevent copy cats?"

Yuck.

I do care that politicians use speech writers as I had no idea how much of the speech is the views of the speech writers . I would love to see
politicians write their own speeches and see just how well they can really write on their own.
I'm afraid the days of President Lincoln writing out the Gettysburg Address by hand are long gone. :(

For example:

Jon Favreau

Current Position: White House Speechwriter (since January 2009)

Favreau might have one of the most difficult jobs in President Barack Obama’s office. The wunderkind is charged with writing speeches for a politician considered one of the best speakers of his generation.

Obama likes to have a hand in his speech writing, so Favreau (or “Favs,” as Obama calls him) is more of a speech arranger than a speech writer. He sits with Obama for 30 minutes at a time and writes down everything the president says. Then, he sits down and writes, gets edits from Obama and writes some more.

Favreau most famously composed the speech Obama gave after winning the Iowa caucuses (“They said this day would never come.”), but he had a hand in many of the speeches Obama delivered along the 2008 campaign trail.

When Obama announced his presidential candidacy in February 2007, he sent Favreau a version at 4 a.m.

And after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said that “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” in September 2008, Favreau quickly added lines to all of Obama’s stump speeches to poke fun at the comment.

After Obama won the 2008 election, Favreau began working on the inaugural address, which Obama told him to keep to 15 or 20 minutes long. He bought a condo in Dupont Circle and turned into what one friend described to The Washington Post as a “Washington political force.”

Yes. It's pretty deliberate and designed to invoke whatever comes to mind when you view the graphic.
Apparently no one bothered to read the text that accompanied the map:

"We'll aim for these races and many others," she wrote on her Facebook page. "This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington.

The aim was on political races, not people.

The fight was to elect people, not kill them.

"don't retreat. RELOAD!".
Obviously that means don't give up (the political fight), try again (to win seats and legislation).

Were their families offended?

Did you answer my question?

The Jewish community is offended , I doubt the parents of the girl are following what Palin said. And Gabby is is not able to say a lot right. This does not made Palin look very good when people are ready up set about her using cross hairs on their states . Using 'blood libel 'for her defence what in very poor taste . If Palin is really thinking of running for president , she start thinking before she speak, if that is possible! What was your question?

"how do we prevent copy cats?"

Yuck.

yep yep. Somewhere out there, on forums for the mainstream internet badlands (forums for mainstream teens, adults) like 4chan, Seung Cho is a meme.

Example: If you get a 31-1 kill/death ratio in some game, you have breached Seung Cho status.

Honestly though, doesn't look to bode well in the future.

I don't know. Since she's not an elected official I don't know why anyone cares what she says. :dunno:

I don't understand why people think the terms crosshairs and target have to mean actually shooting someone. If that's true, there's one store chain that's gonna be in a heapa trouble.

Absolutely! :)

Anti Semitic never goes away, and it is hard forget that 6 millions people were killed for only one reason , and that is for being Jewish! And Jewish people were killed as people really did think we ate Christian babies and drank their blood! Palin did not like when people spoke about her daughters,
Jewish people have the same rights to get upset about Palin saying ' blood
libel'!

Sarah Palin is hardly a victim these days. Especially if she's using phrases such as "blood libel". She is an attention hoarder. She should had waited until after the people were buried to say something.

But she couldn't resist the urge, she had to stir up the pot even more and politicized the tragedy even further. People shouldn't have blamed her in the first place, that was in bad taste. Only idiots would have bought into that claim. It should had been ignored and focus on the tragedy instead.

It's a shame how the tragedy was used as a political pawn for both sides. If it wasn't for John McCain, we wouldn't have to see this poor excuse of a human being everywhere in the media. Then maybe this wouldn't have happened.

There is a flip side to that coin. The Liberal Media couldn't wait for the memorial service before they themselves stirred the pot by pointing fingers at Palin.

I think the chain store called TARGET is to blame for influencing Loughner.

BAN TARGET!!!!

(not).

The cross hairs on the map have nothing to do with shooting or violence; they are about elections. There's no reason for anyone to be upset unless they just don't like losing elections.

What was your question?

This is just one person opinion, he can't speak for other Jewish people feel !
If some Jewish people post that they are offended, then other Jewish people can post that they're not offended. Both sides are allowed their opinions.

If it were about elections, that map would've been designed a lot differently

Yeah, how so?

How has this shooting incident turned into a "Fuck You Sarah Palin" event?
