Aussie student in OK shot and killed "for fun"

I agree but unfortunately... it's the people who have voted to abolish death penalty. my state has abolished it and I'm disappointed.
I think a lot of people are disappointed, especially at the Justice system, as I stated somewhere before, it has gotten too relaxed for the criminals.

Life imprisonment is extremely harsher to murderers - they will spend rest of their life in prison.

False
Whats so harsh, still breathing, eating, bathing, clean clothes, friends, enemies, family visits, free shelter, games/gym...ect...
Yeah they don't have access to society, but basically living free and clear. maybe their first year adjusting to confinement but after that, its a daily life for them. Its what they make of it.

nope. I don't think so.

it's not that our justice system has gotten too relaxed for criminals.... it's just that a lot of people are simply too clueless about how justice system works. they have gotten too ignorant and relaxed that we are now in a "gimme gimme gimme" era where we expect everything to go the way we want it however we want it. but I don't dispute that in some states - the legal system may seems to favor more for criminals than victims.

What a waste! I agree with the methods of that sherriff in AZ. Either force them to relearn societal norms or be subject to a daily can of whoop-***! The general public work hard to earn a living, so should they for our tax dollars!

No, that's not false, go to state prison is risky and dangerous.

My mother's uncle went to state prison for 20 years for gunning and fled in 1960's and he said life in prison was HELL, so he was attacked about few times weekly. You can be attacked or killed for no reason.

Trust me, you will do not want go to state prison, it is horrible.

That why I said life imprisonment is harsher because you have deal with surprise attack and possibility killing everyday (for rest of your life), also you have to follow all of guard's order.

That's no fun.

You've seen that sheriff too!!! Isn't he AMAZING!!!! THAT'S what needs to happen at EVERY jail in the United States... PERFECT example... Wonderful sheriff... Re-elected that many times for a REASON! Makes me want to move there, but my dreams are in California. =P

I dislike Joe Arpaio for some reason.

He has the right idea though. Saving all that money, taking care of the animal problem by making the prisoners work for them for nearly nothing. Christmas trees for cheap that families can afford off his farm... He's saved soooooo much money to that place... I praise him. =P

I like his idea, you want to be a douche and get in trouble so many times you're in jail for a long period of time, no cable, no work outs, no easy crap. you're going to go out there and work and I'm going to make you feel embarrassed about it while you do it! Brilliant man... I love it. =P Think of all the money we could save if we did that everywhere.

Well, it doesn't matter to criminals and the recidivism is very high in US prisons, even in Arizona too.

Phoenix has high auto theft in the nation and Joe Arpaio failed to stop them.

He can't stop everyone no... but the crime has decreased and the city budget is from 18M to just under 3M with him as sheriff... That's the stuff I'm talking about. =P

In bold - source, please?

Arizona has more than $1 billion in correction spending and it was huge spending.

I can't find any link that you posted.

Joe Arpaio is sheriff for county, not city.

All you have to do is google him and there's TONS of links about the budget cuts he's made. Like the food and making only 2 deliveries instead of 3, no salt and pepper... lol that one is kind of funny... but it's the little things that cost a lot over time if you add them up. =P
