*shrug* not a concern to me. it has been overturned with one provision upheld. a major victory for us. a major stern warning to states - TREAD CAREFULLY.

entire Arizona's immigration law can easily be overturned at anytime if they abuse their power with just a snap of fingers. I wouldn't be surprised if Sheriff Arpaio get arrested and charged.

I seriously doubt that Obama or his flunkies have the balls to arrest Sheriff Arpaio!!! That would mean another dirty, costly court battle!

of course!

but are most of them illegals? most of times in newspapers, convicted felons who have been arrested again are white people :Ohno:

We have been talking about illegals here in case you didn't notice!!! Is that another racist remark?!

I don't know about AZ but in Missouri I can arrest you for speeding! There are also convicted felon illegals out there that can and still will be arrested & deported when found by the police.

Arrest me for speeding at 5 MPH over speed limit? That's extremely ridiculous.

In our state, if you speed 25 MPH over the speed limit so you will be arrest and go to jail for reckless driving, however between 15-25 MPH - high fine for combined of reckless driving and speeding.

Convicted felon illegals? you or ICE lets them free? That's disgusted because they need be deported immediately after serve the sentence.

Like I said - most of convicted felons I have read in newspapers who were arrested again are white people.

I really didn't think the court would uphold this part. I do hope the cops will use fair and good judgement. I don't think the Hispanic community will trust them....thus, desired and undesired effect at the same time.

oh my! I see that ya'all are hot and angry over this ruling. well there's nothing to discuss any further. Have a good day while I drink my jamba juice made by a non-Caucasian male :cool2:

Wake up jiro as you don't know what you think you know! Past convicted felons that have been released still come back to the US illegally at times. Usually drugs are involved but so do murderers, rapists and robbery ex-cons! I deal with the system, I know!:cool2:

For illegal commits murder, I believe they should sentence to life in prison without parole or death penalty whatever is legal in state.

probably why Supreme Court left it alone to perhaps observe what could unfold. It may rear a truly ugly side of Arizona's police department especially Sheriff Arpaio. Once it happens, I think it will be quickly overturned.

Nah, probably a civil war before that. :)

I'm not exactly sure what's up with you Texans' unhealthy obsession with premonition of "civil war". can never understand that.

oh well :cool2:

interesting old news I just stumbled upon -

Arizona Sheriff's Officers Turn in Federal Credentials | Fox News
PHOENIX – Dozens of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's jail officers lined up at a news conference in Phoenix Wednesday to ceremoniously hand in their federal credentials a week after they were stripped of the ability to verify the immigration status of inmates.

Arpaio spoke at the same news conference, saying he's going to hold the federal government to its promise to send 50 federal agents to do such screening in his jail. But he predicted there will be illegal immigrants in jail who won't be deported and will be put back on streets.

"I want to see how many agents are going to be coming to our jail," the sheriff said. "I want to see how long it will take for 50 agents from across the country to work in our jails."

The Department of Homeland Security announced Dec. 15 that more than 90 of Arpaio's Maricopa County jail officers could no longer check whether inmates were in the county illegally.

The decision followed the release of a scathing Department of Justice report that said Arpaio's office has a pattern of racially profiling Latinos, basing immigration enforcement on racially charged citizen complaints and punishing Hispanic jail inmates for speaking Spanish.

The sheriff has denied the allegations. Homeland Security officials had no immediate comment on Arpaio's comments on Wednesday.

On Monday, the agency said in a letter to U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl that it would send immigration agents to screen jail inmates in Arizona's most populous county. Arpaio's aides say only one Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has worked at the county jails since last week.

Homeland Security's decision wasn't the first time Arpaio's federal immigration powers were cut.

In October 2009, Immigration and Customs Enforcement stripped Arpaio of his power to let 100 deputies make federal immigration arrests, but still allowed his jail officers to determine the immigration status of people in jail.

let's not forget that in my Post #116, the number of deportations in Obama Administration nearly doubles the amount during 8-years GWB Administration

Many are flown on airplanes as I see it personally at the airport frequently. We have to sign the ICE officers in since they are armed.

Oh I see, that explains about expensive transportation cost.

It's not just Texans. :)

No Foxrac we don't set them free. They serve their sentences and are then deported but they come back here as convicted felons making it easier for us to arrest and deport them next time.
