Are you sick of highly paid teachers?

If teacher pay is same as minimum wage or slightly better than minimum wage so many college students wouldn't interest to become teacher because they need have sufficient funds to have comfortable life in America, also able to repay the college loans after graduation. Right now, we have teacher shortage problem but they don't need anymore due to budget cut.

We are live in expensive society and you need have a lot of money to maintain the comfortable life.
I don't think teachers are getting paid minimum wage or slightly better. The teacher pay charts that I saw were more than minimum wage.

Oh really, what is average pay for private school teacher?

Yup, I'm surprised because I thought it was little but big contribution from unions at first place but it is not true.

One of my concern is, if we are weaken the unions by pass the right to work law and employees aren't required to join union or pay their dues so unions will be weaken as they may no longer contribution to Democratic Party so could make Democratic Party so weaker as Republican Party strengthen up.
Individuals can still donate to the Democrat Party without being members of unions. Republicans do it all the time. :)

So you want the American economy and American citizens to suffer through the abuse of unions in order to keep the Democratic party strong???

Union abuses are sure a hell lot better than the alternative. Remember, in capitalism, failure is its quality control. I find Americans ironic in this... they're so afraid of social democracy and unions, they would rather have the alternative, yet no one in America wants to deal with the direct consequences of system they're vouching for.

At least in a mixed economy, you just have wasted dollars-- not complete and utter failure.

Not all unions are bad.

For your concern with abuse of unions, just decertify the bad unions and let form the good unions. It only work for anyone who work for government, public employees, teachers, police officers, firemen, etc. Look at federal government did decertified Patco in 1981 after illegal striking.

I don't agree with your anti-unions view.

Sounds kinda "Broken window theory"ish to me.

Yet I agree with part of it.. We are going to have to go through some hard times to change the economic course of the US. However right now we are just moving from off course to off map.

Teach 3 or 4 classes a week and work in their actual profession full time.

Then they are doing their professions full time for money. So, what's the difference?

I've heard rumblings, too, about NCLB and how bad/ineffective/whatever it is, it sounds like a good thing it is going to get thrown out. Right?

I have no idea..I am just too busy with working all the time and keeping up with my family to pay attention to what's happening in politics anymore. Too burnt out to really understand all the different jargan and smooth talk by politicans.

Then force China to step up to the plate. They have the consumer base you guys need to relieve the pressure of being the largest purchaser of luxury goods. Unfortunately the Chinese are too wise to assume an economic superpower position, and would rather have someone else step up to the plate. The Chinese don't want to bleed America dry, they just want to enjoy the ride without taking responsibility.

Mind you... this got nothing to do with teachers' salaries, but since we're talking about the recent recession...

Umm....tax dollars don't pay for their profession. And they aren't complaining about their pay.

The whole point is that a lot of more duties and expectations are being piled on teachers without increasing salaries to meet all the duties and expectations. If they dont want to increase our salaries, fine...then just leave us to teach, plan lessons, and do report cards/IEPs not all the other bull crap that eats away our precious time during the work day. All I want to do is teach and plan lessons, not play catch up with all the demands made by the state/federal levels. I am not interested in all of that.

They work part time teaching, dont they? They got full time jobs in other areas according to you.

I dont know why this interests you because you dont seem to care for public school teachers and your child never went to one.

 Maybe that would work....people would see just how ridiculous unions are today and run them off.

Nah, anybody that tours an auto manufacturer or union construction site can see how worthless union workers have gotten.

$75/hr to push a button on a robot.... *smh* . Monkeys will do it for a banana and won't call in sick. Bring back the $5,000 cars!

Some of my families are retired union workers and they are hardworking as non-union workers do. There is not much difference about how good is working for union workers and non-union workers, except for union workers have better pension, pay and health insurance.

Thank you for insulting union workers, I had seen a lot of lazy employees at walmart and they are obviously non-union workers, so is McDonald's too in our area as well.
