Allergies? Fluid in your Ear?

Ok so good news or somewhat good news...

I FINALLY got myself insurance and I went to see a doctor. He looked in my ears, asked me a few questions and he doesn't know whats wrong with my hearing loss... but wants me to get scan for tumors, just to see if its ruled out.....

I'm not taking any of this well, but I'm trying to not think the worse just yet. There is pressure and I've been noticing some on and off pain. I'm just trying to deal til my next appointment which is June 24th.

I'm just a little bit scared.

Try not to worry too much. If the doctor thought it was some terrible problem he would have had you in to an oncologist very quickly. The fact that your appointment is a month away is a good sign.

I know that's easy for me to say, but it's good you have insurance and will find out exactly what problems you have.

Good luck.

:aw: Thanks that really means a lot.

Still having issues with finding a doctor. If I apply for county insurance I'll be on a waiting list for an appointment for two months. Very frustrating

What part of Cali are you in?

Well i will get a phone call within two weeks for the scan and the follow up in a month. I'm glad i got the insurance too because this is driving me insane.

Its just scary though because this is county insurance I'm dealing with plus a dr i don't know. But I'm doing what needs to be done. I just hope its not a tumor.

Sorry to hear about it. But like Botts said, sometime the best way to deal with an illness or dilemma is to "not think about it too much" and go on about your daily business and hope for the best. And also hope you feel better soon!

So I'm noticing my hearing is getting worse and the pain keeps coming on and off.... I may actually go to the ER and see what the deal is.. hopefully anyways. I feel silly, but I don't think this other doctor is taking the fact that this has been going on since March and isn't getting better seriously.

Going either tonight or tomorrow.... wish me luck guys.

Good luck. Hopefully you will get an answer and the can get rid of the pain for you. :fingersx:

Actually going in tonight.... I do feel a little silly going to the ER about it but its annoying me so bad right now

Wow.... fastest ER visit I've ever done! was out in an hour!

So basically the ER doctor said it looks like I have dry earwax build up. She gave me a prescription "Auralgan" to take every 6 hrs.

What a freaking relief! So glad I got a second opinion! I didn't get a MRI, just had two different doctors look at my ear at once lol.

Now.... I just want to smack the one doctor from 2 weeks or so ago that told me I could have a tumor. This shows you that I could of saved time and stress if he actually carefully looked in my ear.

Let us know if you have improvement in hearing or other related issues to this. I assume it will make a difference in some way to clear this. Did they attempt to remove the wax buildup?

Actually no, they didn't treat it in the er. Just gave me the perscription for it.

Alright. Guess you wait and see if the meds work. Surprised they did not water flush the wax out, or use the tiny vacuum.

So a quick update. Been trying these drops and I'm not noticing any difference.

Got my MRI done today.... clausterphobic, my brain felt like jello for 25 mins. I was a tough cookie though.

I figured might as well get one done just for a piece of mind.

Results will come in a few days, not sure if that means the radiologist calls me or I wait til the 24th for my follow up with the first doctor.

Sorry the drops aren't enough, but I think you knew that. They had me try Prednisone also.

I did the MRI a couple of times. I was given Valium to keep me relaxed. Surprised they did not offer this to you. It is very inexpensive; maybe $4 for the 2 pills I used. It is hard to stay relaxed in the loud tube for 40 minutes. It was nice and mellow with the pills.

Nope they just gave me a button to push should I felt the need to panic. Which I came close to freaking out a few times. My head still feels jello like.

Could still be the wax. I've had drops before that didn't work so I had my ears flushed. Worked like a charm, but I find those drops a waste if the wax is compacted enough.
