A Thread About Absolutely Nothing! Part III

booked multiple trips.

Vegas this week.
Boston and DC next week. will be seeing several ADers.
Philly next next week.

2 Canadians will be flying in from Toronto for July 4th party and staying at my place.

Whew!! It's been an extremely busy last couple of days. I'm just stopping by here for a short time before I resume my being busy.

Has anyone had any experience with woodtick bites? I have pulled 4 off me this week. 2 spots are inflamed and itchy and red. I googled this but still not sure whether to be concerned.

Never heard of them....are you concerned about Lyme's Disease?....Perhaps it's best to have the doctor check them out to be on the safe side....

No, it would be deertick for Lyme disease. Wood ticks are bigger, but similar. They are very common in forested or tall grassed areas. We apply tick prevention on our dogs every summer for this. Normally when I pull them off me it leaves no mark, so I'm surprised that I have 2 this time that are so inflamed. I think I will go to the dr. On Monday if they're not better by then.

Good to hear...when I lived (or grew up) in the backwoods of Carolina...we had ticks...one was so embedded in my scalp...took a long time before they would get it out!....Oh My!....That's one reason why I don't go Camping or into the Woods....

My doggie takes Trifexis every month (pill)...it's supposed to cover everything (even ticks)....$20 a pill (depending upon weight)....

I'm sure the Trifexis works. And you're right it's totally based on weight. We use Frontline Flea and Tick. It's topical. I will never use Hartz!

Right about Hartz....my doggie will be 6 next month. She has been on Frontline also...switched to Comfortis....then to Trifexis....Good thing about Comfortis and Trifexis...you can bathe ur doggie whenever you want to since the pill is oral...Not ointment...It's just the hazzle of getting ur doggie to take the pill...:giggle:...in her food, (as suggested)?....she would poke around it...So I cut the pill up into 4 small pieces and put them down her throat.......she always knew when it was time to take the pill......My Vet suggested to switch back and forth from Comfortis & Trifexis every 6 months or so.

Anyways...hope the tick bites are not serious for you and the doctor gives you something for it..it would worry we too.

That's interesting about the pills. I had not known they come in pill form. My dogs are such pigs that they wolf down their food. When they are sick and need pills for antibiotics, I could always wrap it in a piece of sliced American cheese and they took it without even chewing. Just swallowed the whole thing  so maybe I will think about this for next year. I have enough Frontline to last them the rest of the summer this year.

And, thank you! Our 2nd dog came to us infected with Lyme. We didn't know it at the time. She went from happy playful dog (3 years old at the time) to totally lethargic. A vet checkup and Lyme test showed her positive for it. She had to take antibiotics for FOUR months. Poor doggy.

That annoys me the previous owner probably knew about it. I got a collie years ago and she ended up having heartworm treatment less than a year after I got her and that wasn't cheap.

I understand. But I don't think this was the case. She wasn't showing symptoms when we got her. She belonged to my husband's cousin who died suddenly of acute renal failure. He was only 43. There were no vet records to be found so we were starting from scratch.

Oh my dear sweet marshmallow in a can it is not friggin illegal to pee in the water or the woods!!!!!! Seriously, what are they going to do!? Umm, excuse me sir, we have reason so suspect you urinated in the water, would you please step out so we can test this large body of water for urine? Do you even think about what you say before you say it... ever? Let me just get my pee test strip and test this large body of water here.... better yet, let's do the smell test... yup, this water smells a bit like fish and pee.... Pee is completely sterile when it leaves your body. You can pee wherever whenever you need to go in the woods so long as you're not flashing! What do you think people do when they go camping!?!? There's no plumbing in real camping!! Seriously dude... You really need to reevaluate your paranoia of going to jail for everything and rethink everything you blurt out and say before you say it... you can't go to jail for peeing in a flipping.... good lord... Your comment right there is deserving of the LARGEST face palm in existence! Congratulations!!!

Portland Reservoir To Be Flushed After Teen Pees In The Water Supply

Read this.

These are not reservoirs where people swim, ski, play etc. Water Supply reservoirs are fenced off and illegal to play or pee in. Terribly sad they're going to waste all that water when other areas need it so badly.

I know but I was showing what happen when a boy peed in drinking water. I was surprise the reservoir was going to be drained. Animals pee near it all the time .

A's beat the Yankees 5-1... it was a fun day today at the ball game.

I don't have time to look for a link; but if I remember right upon further testing the draining was cancelled.

I posted the link

I'am back for a few moments.

Whatdid yousay!
What you posted is from when they planned to drain the reservoir. My memory is that they later decided not to drain it (after they did more testing).
