A Thread About Absolutely Nothing! Part III

Then why blow up the inflatables every day?

Yeah, just unplug the inflatables when you no longer want to display them.

I had to leave my tiny decorated fake tree out on my front flower bed past my undecorating time because the bricks holding it in place had frozen to the ground. I just unplugged the lights. I was able to get it put away the other day when we finally had some warm weather.

Then why blow up the inflatables every day?

I have never worked with these inflatables. Having seen them up at almost all hours of the day so thought they could be blown up and left that way until you let the air out.

Hey you two! I can see how it could happen. Someone sick in the family (either the person in charge of the decorations or that person having to care for others) or time problems with the decorations the least of their concerns.
In our 1-mile circular block, we have the inflated Santa. Another neighbor has a huge tree in their picture window, fully lit each night. They are not ill nor elderly. Also, other people who still have outside lights up. Some have electric candles in their windows and wreaths on their doors.

I'm not criticizing these people, so I don't need to be called out about it.

They are not inflatables in the ordinary sense. There's an electric motor that constantly blows air and when turned off......Santa collapses....

There's no deflating to be done.

Having the motor going on all day must be racking up their electric bill so that's why I find it odd that it is mid January and they are still getting inflated on a daily basis.

Nah, I think the electric usage is pretty negligible....just guessing but I think its like burning a 75 watt light bulb....

Oh ok...well, they are nice to look at.

I put away all my Christmas decor about 2 weeks ago, but I left the white lights up in two of the front windows. They don't necessarily have be perceived as Christmas lights. Restaurants use white lights in their outdoor patio trees year-round. I am not sure if I'll keep these up all year, but maybe ...

Thanks for this conversation, I'm going out now and take my wreath off the front door. I keep forgetting to do it.

I know someone who keeps her indoor fake tree up all year. She decorates if for the different seasons.

While walking through the historic Theater District downtown, I saw this:

Kinda odd for one of those to be here.

The idea of that is making me laugh, but maybe it doesn't look so bad. Have you seen it?
I saw it in Jan 2014 - still set up for Christmas, but she told me how she decorates it throughout the year.

Hallmark has started selling seasonal ornaments. I gave my daughter a Halloween one for her b'day which is a few days before Halloween and Halloween is one of her favorite holidays.

You know, that might catch on, the seasonal tree thing. The more I think about it, it may become quite the fad.

Would certainly solve the yearly problem of "where do we put the furniture we have to move in order to put the tree where we want it".
