 gggggoooooooddddddd mmmmoooooorrrrrrnnnnniiiiiiinnnnnnggggg AMERICA!

I'm making my kids do schoolwork on Monday. Mean momma that I am. :giggle:

I'll be doing the same. Sometimes I get tired of being the warden, though.

Do you home school as well?

My kids have been off for a couple of months and we have to get back into it. We will be doing schoolwork for 6 days a week with no time off except the major holidays.

Hey, sallylou:

Did you ever get your webcam straightened out?

Did a lot of cleaning today. It's one of the things I wanted to get done. Plans for tomorrow: work on 5 different projects and go to the dog park. Not the most interesting weekend, but at least I'm getting a lot done. :)

Glad that you got to the dog park, loghead. Nothing like a romp with the pooches in the dog park!

Kristina, I'm not home schooling. I'm home when the kids get off school to torture them with studying. Academics are a big deal at our house. *cough*nerds* I admire anyone who home schools because it's a big job!

I haven't gotten a new web cam yet. I had to make some other purchases that were more pressing. Now, my lap top speakers have died. Maybe I played it at top volume too long and blew them out? Oh, well! I'll let you know when I get it all straightened out. Soon, I hope!

Homeschooling teens is really hard, but my biggest issue is that my 14 y/o son is advanced and doing grades 10-12 while in grade 8 and my 15y/o daughter has learning problems that mean we have to review a lot and so while she should be in grade 8, we are doing grades 5-8 again. When she hits 16, we are dropping her out of the county school records and then will continue with her school without the law breathing down our neck.

That is the plan for tomorrow. I would have liked to have gone today because it was such a nice day. Tomorrow might be nice too. I haven't checked the weather in a while.

I killed one of the speakers on the desktop computer because of this...

Glad to know that I'm not the only one blowing out speakers! :giggle:

Kristina, have you found virtual school curriculum for your son in your state? It varies from state to state, but you might be able to get a computer and certified teacher to assist for free. Different states have different requirements. I'm sure that you're in touch with your local home schooling community. I have a relative that is home schooling and she's very active in the home schooling community.

It's great that your kids can each work at their own pace. It's just a lot of work for you.

Son was doing the Florida Virtual School but didn't like it. He said the course work was too easy and so he found himself playing online games instead. He aced everything, but when I set up the courses, they wouldn't let me do high school level courses due to his age. I get books from Barnes & Noble and from a teacher store in Columbia, MO that I used to go to a lot. I also get a lot of free stuff off the internet with my homeschool site and newsletters.

I have a record keeping program in the computer that I enter all of the pertinent info into then make up the lesson plans. Son works on his own except for math and daughter has one-on-one and we do it that way.

I always enjoyed school, so I like getting to do it again, and math was always my best subject.

hope ya'all have a good day. off to brooklyn!
