8.9 quake in Japan triggers massive tsunamis

it's the news who said it. not nuclear power folks.

My statement still stands. All we can do is wait and see.

I saw it on the news while getting ready for work. It took a lot of effort to get my eyes unglued to the TV so I could make it to work on time.

I shared the news with my students today and we had a writing assignment about it. They wanted to write to the Deaf Japanese students there since our program has always kept a correspondence with the deaf school there. I am thinking of collaborating with all the teachers to have a big project for the kids there.
 
Dreadful disaster.

My prayers are with the Japanese. I hope the people I knew years ago is not in that area.
 
May I make a suggestion?

Can all AD.com members send money to a fund that would donate money for relief aid on behalf of all AD.com members? I think this would be a good idea considering a few members here have actually been to Japan.

I heard this on the news too , and if I heard the report correctly the nuke plant had something wrong with before the tsunamis hit! The fires are horrible too! All HELL broke lose !

Tokyo Electric said an equipment failure has made it impossible to cool two reactors at the Fukushima Number One plant.

The firm says it does not have enough electric power to cool the reactors, which automatically stopped operating when the quake struck.

omg so scary. I certainly hope Japan can recover from this, it will take a while but hopefully not years.
