    Tent-Cities Across the World

"San Diego's Tent-beach has already passed" meant it is down now. We met one day to make videos and digital pictures whilst we all discussed-- so we can let the people at Gally know that we are there for them. But it is not our goal to pause our lives to camp out. It is illegal to camp on...

    Your Toilet? Round or Elliptical?

From a guy friend, he said that elongated seats suck because when a man is finished at peeing, he will try to close the seat cover (he doesn't move-- just in the same position as he did pee).... and the seat cover will hit his penis on its way down. Ouch. So he adviced any guys to get...

    Tent-Cities Across the World

If you contact Deafeye of the website, I am sure he is more than glad to give you the information. San Diego's Tent-beach has already passed. It was last Saturday. You can keep a cap on tent-cities if you check DeafRead.com daily for somebody to post an address/time.

    Tent-Cities Across the World

bay area, san diego, seattle and several more don't have a deaf school. the important thing is that there is a large deaf community in the area. :-) but you are rght-- near deaf schools do usually have a deaf communit so it is just easier to establish a tent-city near deaf school. :-)

My experience at Gallaudet University in '99

I assume both of you enrolled Gally for a BA degree?? I heard that MA programs are way different from undergraduate.

    Tent-Cities Across the World

I went to San Diego's Tent-Beach (since we are unique- we can set up tents on our beach! San Diegan style!) last Saturday It was interesting because the community at the tent was diverse-- some graduated from residental school (riverside, fremont, whatever) and some are mainstreamed, but most...

    Tent-Cities Across the World

I want to make a thread about Tent-cities that people can share their experiences, photos, and information about their Tent City in their states/countries/whatever. :-) You can view the locations of Tent-Cities across USA (and you can see Canada, Europe as well.) Post your pictures...

    Calm down, Gallaudet

Right. There is more reasons than the fact that she's not deaf enoguh. That is nothing. Yes it is a specluate but they claimed there are more reasons other than that one little audism thing "she's not deaf enough." Broad your knowledge to hear all sides.

    Hallo from Latvia

Hello Kristina! I have been to Estonia which's north of Lativa. I believe Estonia does have a deaf school that uses sign language. (Liza, correct me if I am wrong). America do have various schools for Deaf/hard of hearing offerin various methods of communication such as sign language or...

    a question abt culture

You can walk around if there are enough room. But if there are 5 inches space behind the signer and you are trying to squeeze yourself to get around-- don't. Just go through. Because then the signers will get distracted as you bump and nudge as you squeeze yourself. :-)

    ASL class midterm assignment...

No you are not overstepping your boundary. You are handling yourself well that you are not imposing yourself on others. That is better than you expecting the Deaf people to hold your hands through conversations. You are just observing and let the natural language of ASL occuring which is good--...

    Call in sick with job

(deleted. I sent this as a PM to sequioas to reply to his post to respect the privacy instead of embarassing himself and myself.)

    ASL class midterm assignment...

Sympathetic...? and I don't recollect that any of my dinners was a hassle ... I don't know if because I am Deaf but I feel a bit offended that your professor wants you to feel sorry that it is a hassle to not able to speak at all. Some professors are just off-the-wall. ************BACK TO...

    Don't rape her

Just 4 mos? Hmm. When I was watching the documentary, they were then in prison. THe husband got off the hook because there weren't enough evidence or something but the wife just knew that he had done the crime. :-/

    Call in sick with job

As a teacher at an university, I am not allowed to call in sick really. If there's an emergency or I am serious-sick, I am allowed to cancel only ONE class. If more, I have to find and pay for the sub out of my paycheck-- $40 hourly. (the university does not take care of the subsitutes...

    Don't rape her

There is a real-life scenario. I believe this similar documentary is called: "The Cucumber Incident" ... a wife got fed-up with her husband for sexually-molesting/raping their two daughters so the wife teamed up with her sister and mother to rape the husband with a cucumber. The women are in...

    a question abt culture

Just WALK thru. Do not wait or pause for us to look at you just to see you say "excuse me"... if you want to be polite, say excuse-me WHILE you are walking thru. It is MORE awkward to pause the convo just to NOTICE the interpution. We are used to people walking thru our convo. Our lives do...

cons & pros about Soft Paw

Cheri, I know your thoughts and intentions are good-spirited, but think about it-- if you see an owner beating up his/her dog malicious (with a club or punching it in face) in public-- will you just walk by and ignore it just because that dog is not yours? Just my two bits. (shrug) (EDITED...
