Beatdown of transgendered in Baltimore, MD McDonalds

I don't get the intensity of the reaction. It's not like a transgendered person urinating in a woman's bathroom poses a direct threat to anyone in that bathroom.

Exactly. That's the point of why people are appalled at the beating. Totally out of all proportion to any offense.

**nodding** Could also be possible that the individual in this case, or a similar case, could be intersexed, not transgendered, and are legally female.

So what would you do if you saw a beating like that going on? Call 911, try to break it up yourself, what?

I thought it was very interesting that the only one who seemed to step up to help the victim was an older and out-of-shape woman. She had more courage and humanity than younger, fitter people who you'd think could have acted faster.

Edited to add: the only experience I've had remotely like that was when someone tried to pick-pocket my husband when we were walking down the street in Rio. I screamed absolutely bloody murder. All that was going through my mind was my old high school drama teacher's advice on projection: "From the diaphragm, from the diaphragm, dear."

It was pretty impressive. My stiff-upper-lip British husband barely grunted out a response, and I was shrieking like a banshee. He said he never suspected I had it in me.

The guy ran off.

I tend to be a person of immediate action. I would say that I would no doubt yell for someone to call 911 while I, no matter how foolishly, stepped right in the middle of the fray!:giggle: Seriously, stuff like that really angers me and I tend to be pretty up front when I am angered.

BTW: I'm sure I could be classified as an older woman, as well.

There is a social psychological phenomenon that shows that when there are several people around in a situation like this, everyone assumes that someone else will act, so they all wait for that to happen rather than taking action themselves. Scary, huh?

If that is a general question, I would have tried to beat them off with my white cane.

I understand that when I scream it is an odd and scary sound. I have scared a German Shepard away with it that was attacking me and the little Poodle.

If one person acts, and dramatically, sometimes others can be influenced.

In line with what I said in the above post about people waiting for someone else to act...you are correct. The same phenomenon indicates that when one person acts, others are often motivated to assist.

Solution: Convert public restroom to private restroom with just only sink and toilet in one small room.

Good solution. One person goes in, locks the door, when they come out, another person goes in. Perfect situation for the homophobics out there.:giggle:

The transgendered female....was still actually a male, with a penis...The 2 black girls told him to use the male bathroom, not the female bathroom.

There were "smart remarks" made by the "non-fully trangenered female"...So..."she" or "he" got a beating.....because she would not use the "proper" bathroom......since "she" still had a PENIS...then the bathroom for Males is what "she" should have been using.

I agree, the fight was vicious, and the manager should have been called to stop it before it got too much out of hand.

Then again, I would be angry if I went to the bathroom to find a "man" standing up to use the toilet, since I'm female. I would have called the manager and the police.

I don't know when there will be seperate bathrooms for transgendered people! Or if there ever will be.....it's a sad situation to be in.

Obviously, none of your business about matters with female, if transgendered female is identified as female so it is female to female, you won't know if she has penis or not. No way for you to look at them if she has penis.

Leave them alone as usual and the situation should be on your own, not others.

I agree with Jillio above.

I wouldn't care if transgendered male go in male restroom, even if he still have vagina because it is none of my business to look at him. Just focus at toilet then wash the hand and get out of restroom.

I'm amazed at how much I've laughed in such a serious thread. Some of the comments were quite amusing though.

These two girls are heartless, despicable pieces of humanity who deserve the harshest punishment available under their charges. There is no reason to beat up a person because they were using the bathroom. It doesn't matter that this person did not have the sexual organs necessary to be classified as a woman. The person was bring true to themselves as an individual living as a woman, and was going to cause no harm to anyone.

This is very clearly a hate crime and discrimination. It's too bad these girls were so insecure in their own bodies they had to go and harm someone else.

This article made me so angry and I cannot believe about how employees at McDonald's treat transgendered woman after beat up by couple of bitch girls. I hope that couple of girls receive maximum punishment, also charge with hate crime too. I'm glad that employee who did capture the video got fired and hopefully that none of workplace want to hire him. He shouldn't put information about this incident on internet and I feel bad for transgendered woman's life being horribly miserable.

Ever priced your single bathroom option????

Don't matters, we don't have to deal about gender issues for transsexual people to use whichever restroom is suitable for them.

Some places in here have family restroom, that what I like a lot.

Not so perfect in busy areas where the ladies end up in long lines while the guys zip in and out. :giggle:

I know of many trans folks - including my friends - who have been mistreated in various ways because they were specifically trans; it's a disgustingly common shameful thing. Many people who do not fit a certain standard in the U.S are treated badly...it's been going on for long time, no surprise. :( I was told when I called to take a college survey that bisexual people were not included cuz we didn't exist...this was a survey being done through the gay/lesbian group at my university.
My mom remembers the signs saying "no Jews or dogs allowed". She was in a segregated college dorm.
Native/First Nations peoples still struggle with the history and aftermath of genocide...hate is not new and it takes many forms.

as far as the specificity of who's in the bathroom, I really don't care what bathroom I use or who's in mine, I just want to pee ya know....
they need more unisex bathrooms anyway.....

I probably will offend some people by this comment....

I am so not surprised at the behavior of the women who live in Baltimore City. I see this kind of aggressiveness from many of the women who live in the bad areas of Baltimore. They are very very violent and like Beachgirl said, they just wanted to find an excuse to beat the crap out of someone. Girls like these are very common around here. They will beat anyone up so I am always careful not to make eye contact with them.

I would bet many dollars that it wasnt discrimination.

These girls are probably bragging about this video to their community. Wouldnt be surprised.

You've got a valid point. Young female violence is on the rise, unfortunately.
