I'm starting to notice more and more ASL videos being taken down on YouTube due to copyright infringement. Did anyone else notice the same?
What I don't get is why that's necessary if the sign language users on YouTube are not monetizing from the music used in their videos. They're really educating us deaf people and making us understand what the songs are about by using sign language.
I don't know, but I think it sucks that this is happening lately. If it weren't for these ASL music videos on YouTube, I would've have had a hard time understanding the lyrics in songs (I'm HOH for those that don't know).
Here's a video by "AllyBallyBabe" explaining what happened to some of her ASL videos, and what will happen if she continues signing songs for the deaf community and sign language users.
For those that don't know sign language, this is what she said:

Hi. I'm in school, that's why you see the blue background...
Ok, I'm doing this video because I have bad news and I'm sorry, but I feel I have to let you know this. YouTube emailed me and said my videos are infringment of copyright because of the songs used.
In the past I've tried explaining to YouTube that I don't make any money with my videos. I've only signed the songs for educational purposes and so forth. At first they said OK and that my videos can stay, but now about 10 videos or more were taken down. They basically told me ENOUGH NO MORE, and that if I continue creating ASL music videos, they will delete my account. This frightened me. My videos removed and account deleted??? I don't know what to do now.
If you have any suggestions of what I can do about this, please let me know. I really don't want my videos removed. I would like my videos to stay and have all users watch and enjoy my ASL music videos.
If my account gets deleted in the future, I will create a new account. The account name will be "AllyBallyBabe2006", ok? That will be my new account.
I just wanted to let you know that because I know many of you enjoy watching my videos. And I would really like for you to continue watching in the future. I really hope my account doesn't get deleted and that I'm safe.
Someone told me maybe YouTube keeps track of the video titles, and that may be the reason they remove such videos because of song names used as titles. Maybe, I don't know if it's true. Maybe I will try and title my music videos differently. I'll think about that.
Anyway, in case in the future you realize my account "AllyBallyBabe" is gone, you'll know why. If that happens, you already know my new account name (AllyBallyBabe2006).
I'm sorry. I hope this doesn't happen (crosses fingers).
See you all later. Bye.
