Alright, I'm as disapointed as you guys when we saw the design of the PS3's controller that's shaped like a broomer ring but hopefully it isn't literally their final design or so since Sony will be delaying their PS3 launch after the Xbox360's first year after launch...

so anyway, I used to be a nintendo fanboy over the years 'til Nintendo has fucked up the fun and entertainment over on GameCube when it only just play GAMES! and not just games, it doesn't even have good third party support as well as Sony and Microsoft do. So it pretty much has a bad game library than the Nintendo 64's games library...so Nintendo isn't doing so well much at all now...

and so Nintendo has finally revealed the secrets on the Nintendo controller... (or so they called it)

but let me tell you this...WHAT THE FUCK!?! WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!?!? IT'S A FUCKING REMOTE WITH A MOUSE-LIKE PAD JUST LIKE YOU USE IT FOR A FUCKING HEATING BLANKET OR SOMETHING!

*inhales* excuse my temper... I didnt even feel much desire when I even checked out the Nintendo Revloution though I know I've been hearing that it would finally play DVDs, CDs, and even download old Nintendo classics for free, etc...to be honest, I'm not quite satistifed about that...why? I just don't know because Nintendo didnt really say that themselves! only the reports and rumors said that and they won't be true unless Nintendo really say so. Nintendo never said it would play DVDs, CDs, or even download Nintendo classics...but as for the fact that I did read the EGM from Miayotoa or whatever his name is, has said something about the downloads himself but didnt say if that would be possible anyway. He acts like he doesn't know or whatever like that.

I didn't even like the Nintendo DS (expect that I liked one game "nintendogs" for it...pretty cute lol) but anyway just like the Nintendo DS, you point and click and shit...same thing with the revloution! *sigh* Well, I think I decided to stay with Xbox360 since it has all the things I need and want..especially the world's most comfortable controller! even Xbox's controller S was much more comfortable for me than the PS2 controller and the Gamcube controller indeed.

alrite, here are the links...and tell me what you think after you see those stuff.

and if you ask me...I think it's going to be VERY horrible for sports, fighting, and racing games.

i am sorry but i have to disagree with you[no offence] there, the controllers looks really inonnative and Nintendo invented the shoulder buttons, analgoue stick and now they invent a two bit controller, i think its l337!

SHIT! What's Miyamoto and Company been smoking when they came up with this kind of controller? It looks really horrible not to mention that playing games with this thingamajig is gonna drive someone :dizzy:

Now I know why Nintendo is no longer the top dog when it comes to gaming. Reminded me of Henry Ford and his stubborn insistence on old technology for his Fords way back in the 1930's. Guess I'll start calling Nintenodo the Ford Motor Company (1903-1943 era) of video games...LOL!

I'd rather have the xbox360 than the Revolution.....

More details on the Revloution "controller"...

while you are at it, I would just like to let you know that I believe it is the perfect tool for FPS games...but what games would that come to the Revloution anyway? I would only guess afew first party games like Metroid and third party games like Medal of Honor comes to mind... while Xbox360 and PS3 would still have old fashioned style controller in ONE piece with the D-pad and buttons on one controller pad so thank you Mircosoft and Sony for still giving us the best quality and comfort in gaming expect for Nintendo... OOOOKAY give it ur best shot, Nintendo. :ugh2: I wouldn't be surprised how third party companies would be pissed with how different the Revloution controller is than the Xbox360 and PS3 controller is...lol

Wait a minute... you jumped the gun!

You don't have to use this for the next-gen gaming, it is a controller, but there's more to it. A controller shell being used to play the game in a more traditional manner will be unveiled later which should be similar to Gamecube's.

There's a mock-up image that IGN created to show you what we may be expecting soon. We haven't been shown everything yet, and Nintendo may have much more to show us. In fact, they are saying that there may be much more secondary features on that "remote-styled controller" than we've been shown.

I do think it's an interesting concept and may come in quite useful. It shows that Nintendo truly believes in innovation but will not focus entirely onto one piece of a hardware. They are focusing on several ways for people to enjoy their gaming experiences by using both the traditional controller model and remote-style controller. It makes sense that they did this because it's just like shoes... you can't wear a pair of shoes for everything, you have to use several types of shoes to go hiking, golfing, playing soccer, walking in the water.

It's like that with different genre types. Fighting and First-Person-Shooter games are two totally different concepts and the controller designs doesn't always fit them too well. I am willing to embrace a variety of controllers to enhance the gaming experience as much as they can.

Of course, this isn't to be released till 2006 and I'll have to reserve my judgment to see how the final result will be like. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Seriously, imagine playing The Legend of Zelda with this remote-style controller... you may be using it as a sword to chop these frickin' skeletons to pieces. Imagine the potential, don't be so quick to dismiss their ideas.

Try to see beyond the image and see the potential. :)

.. Since when is the PS3 a Nintendo?

*** UPDATE ***
Er.. nevermind.. im tired.. I jumbled up the words in the post, smile. :thumb:

That controller doesnt look too comfortable to use, nor intuitive.. its like reconfiguring a car, replacing the steering wheel with a keyboard and the petals with a foot trackball.. you'd have to relearn everything, in that sense.

Also, the fact that it's IR-based -- thats going to be tiring for the player, they'll have to continually make sure they're pointing at the right angle..

Oh dude! I'm so beating you! zap! zap! ahh WTF.. I had you! it was the controller.. I SWEAR!! it strayed off.. AAAHH!! :rl:

I would perfer that controller than the "remote" kind...even if it looks very much like GameCube's, I don't care.

**note: this isn't Nintendo's final design**

It's a mock-up made up by IGN, not Nintendo. We have to wait and see what the controller will be like. Companies like EA said they are keen on taking advantage of the features that comes with the remote-style controller.

Just try to stay optimistic.

I used to have a mouse that worked similar to this controller and I never found it to be quite tiring. Yes, my mouse was capable of navigating in the air without any surfaces needed. I had it for a few years, and this controller is obviously much more advanced and come with a rumble feature and more.

I can see the potential in it and don't see a problem since they'll also be giving us a traditional controller shell. The more, the better.

Actually thats not a mockup. I found the original pic posts on a gaming news website (didnt copy it before i closed the window sorry!). Those are authentic images from Nintendo. Not sure why IGN stamped their watermark on it.. thats a no-no!

Gyroscopic devices have always had problems, thats why they havent been too popular (among other reasons not related to this). However, from what I've read, they dont rely entirely on gyro sensing to tell position - apparently the units come with 2 infrared receivers at each side of the unit, which it uses in conjunction with the gyroscope.

Soo we'll see! But still.. IR = bad, mmkay. Humans have the tendency to find the most comfortable position of their body, whether its in motion or standing still. The hands' most comfortable position is flat out and downward.. so the longer you play with those controllers, the more likely you'll find your hands floating into a downward position (ie: IR unit pointing towards floor). But, whether this will be a problem really depends on how high you are from the floor, how high the unit (receiver) is, and the degree of transmission from the infrared unit on the remote (ie: does it have a 45 degree line of sight, or is it 180 (rare)? ).. I wonder why they didnt make it wireless instead of infrared.. cheaper, i guess :)

The IMAGE of the SHELL CONTROLLER is a MOCK-UP created by IGN. I wasn't talking about these remote controllers, I was referring to the traditional controller shell, the one Steel posted. That's a mock-up by IGN.

To quote IGN,

Nintendo has not yet released official imagery of what the controller shell might look like. However, we've created a mock-up (above) based on what we know of its functionality.

Boy, this is all confusing! I hope the final design is good. I've noticed that the shape of new consoles have become "out-of-this-world" in some ways and that sorta takes the fun out of console gaming... IMO.

All the consoles that were released were horizontal. PS2 did something innovative by having theirs horizontal and vertical. All DVD players, VCRs, and PC towers are horizontal. (Yes, the PC tower is vertical... but the slots are still horizontal.) This makes it easier for people who care for their CDs and handle them in a specific way. With these vertical slots, it sorta adds more complications for inserting CDs.

Sadly, for Nintendo... they haven't made their systems backwards compatible lately. I was hoping that the Gamecube would have an additional slot that allows N64 games to be played in. Nope. Since PS2 and Xbox played DVD, I had expected the Gamecube to do the same. Nope. Now, the new console is vertical and slanted. It does look nice, but does make me a bit nervous thinking that it could fall over any time. The same goes for the Xbox... especially with its weird curvy vertical design.

Ahh, allrighty then :) It's certainly a good idea, the controller shell.. I'm not much of a gamer, though.. I LOVE quake, and am drooling over Q4's release for the PC. Actually I'm wondering about Q4.. since they've made Q3 opensource.. hmm!
