Revloution's controller isn't the first controller that looks like a remote...

those two were, sadly, one of the worst inventions ever made.
When I was a little kid, I had one of those weird controllers too. I could never understand what the numbers were for. I guess my dad got it for a game or two and didn't tell me what it was for. Or... my dad was just stupid and bought it cuz it appeared to be an "advanced controller" or something. Heh!

*gasp* it's the new....FRUITFUCKER!

While everyone owned an Atari 2600, I owned Coleco and boy it was one fantastic console system back in their time. I had some awesome games for the Coleco like this racing game, but from the rear of this F-1 car going through different scenes with awesome transistion. I also had a Smurf game, but I was like 6 or 7 years old so it is natural for me to have a kiddie game lol. I believe I had a Pac Man clone game in the form of a lady bug or something. My friend had Atari and I never got used to it, I got used to Coleco. Coleco got replaced by the Nintendo Entertainment System but hey I didn't complain cuz I played Super Mario Bros for a long time then over 2000 games followed Super Mario Bros. Before Coleco, I played Pong and it was very interesting lol.

That controller/remote control picture took me back to the old days of playing Coleco. :D

Look like you're not ready for REAL next generation of gaming console.... more like afraid of new things. It's like as future techs to Ice Age people.

As for your cereal: It isnt me.

not ready for the real next gen of gaming eh? look dude...

the only thing I had a huge problem with the next gen console would be the revloution's controller which is shaped like a remote and quite frankly, there has been games just like that before so c'mon...think about this. would you really like to wave your hands around with your remote for hours trying to get what's right on the screen?
it would be the same thing if you just use your imagination by using your TV remote and wave around pretending to control a character on your favorite TV and see how it goes for the last 30 mintues or more. for me, my muscles would obviously get too tiring and bored to death after waves of just moving my hands around instead of just sitting still and comfortable with a NORMAL controller that has the analog stick and buttons placed on the same pad where you can reach it comfortably and faster.

I have no problem with Xbox360 controller although I heard in articles from IGN.com and believe it or not, they say it is the best controller ever invented for the next gen of gaming. You would fall in love with that controller so fast you would end up "sleeping" with it lol. Mircosoft has earned my trust and respect and they do seem to take gaming very seriously than ever now. I wouldn't know much about Sony's PS3 and I dont really care about the banana-like controller although it would still feel like playing the playstation games just like a previous playstation controller, expect with longer handles on the pad.It still have the same buttons and twin analog sticks and D-pad and L1-L2 and R1-R2 buttons...just like the previous PS controller. no big deal.

I just dont really believe in wireless controllers though you would have to buy thousands of batties in advance in case the battries die out so that's why I tell you people that I perfer the wired controllers to save me time and money in my gaming experience. I dont care if people even stepped on the cords or your dog stepped on it or whatever like that...at least it's your own responsiblity with your own console. Xbox360 has all the things I would need for now...games, DVDs, msn /windows XP network, msn instant messaging, and even an universal remote to turn off your Xbox360 without even having to get up and do it! How come Sony dont have their own universal remote and Nintendo didnt even mention if their "controller" can turn off the revloution console as well.

All in all, I understand we all have different opinons and that's okay cause I make my own opinons and my own choices. I believe Xbox360 would just do me fine. since it will have a solid support from third party companies and way ahead of the PS3.

wtf?! now Nintendo's part of KKK?

Demo 3: Irritating stick

The third demo showed how the controller could improve your standard puzzle-type game. The demo dusted off the Kuru Kuru Kururin, or irritating stick, baton from the Game Boy Advance puzzle game. The demo segment charged us with guiding the rotating stick through a winding pattern in a cave setting that was fraught with peril. The demo began with us lining up our colored crosshair with the large jewellike decoration at the center of the stick. Once that was done we had to guide the spinning stick through a windy path to collect coins, all while avoiding touching the side of the path or hitting moving blocks. Hitting or brushing against either reduced our stick's health bar. Fortunately, picking up coins restored it. Springlike bumpers were peppered throughout the route to help change your stick's spin, either forward or backward, which came in handy for navigating some of the tighter spaces.

Did Charles Atlas pay a visit to the Nintendo HQ to whip Mario and Luigi in shape for the Revolutuion?!

If you are talking about the infrared problems in the past, well I'm pretty sure Nintendo will resolve that problem and if Nintendo know that infrared devices tend to cause transmission problems, they would not bring a device out that utilizes infrared technology. But Nintendo is planning on to and obviously they have fine-tuned it so all we got to do is wait and see from the reviews of the controller at IGN, EGM, GamePro and the like.

Well that's IGN.com's opinion if they prefer the XBOX controller but they have not heard from the general population. I have no idea how IGN.com deducted that the XBOX controller is the best so far from running a public poll or just based on the staff's opinions. For me, I still think it's bulky, full of problems and too flashy. I like to stick to what actually works and ergonomically fit for me like the Playstation Dual Shock controller. It fits fine in my hands, prove me well through thousands of hours in games and still come out strong for me.

Are you saying that you would prefer be lazy and have a remote controller do the work for you? Just kidding :) Sony didn't have that on their remote controller because in order to turn off the PS2, you would have to depress the button for a certain time till it will turn off. It's a mechanism that's built in the PS2 and require human interaction. If the PS3 comes out with an operational button that can turn the system off instantly, I'm pretty sure the next remote controller will have that.

As for the controller for the PS3, it's a prototype and is not intended to be the final prototype for the PS3. Sony is seriously thinking about scraping the boomerang/banana look of the PS3 controller and replace it with something better since the PS3 console has been delayed. I read it somewhere from one of your articles that you guys posted here, but frankly I forgot which one. I can look again to find the article, to support my comment.

Think about the ergonomics for the Revolution controller, there will be a controller shell to hold the remote controller in place so you can use the Nintendo GameCube controller's look and feel to play games. But ergonomically speaking, think about it, if you have a "remote controller" like device with a port to allow an extension of the controller like the analog stick add-on with a wire to the extension port, you will be more relaxed and freed up because it's not so close to each other. With other controllers, we would have to bring our shoulders and arms close to hold the controller with both hands. With the Revolution controller, you might not have to, you can just relax your right hand on your right leg, or right arm of your chair (depending on your sitting preference) and for your left hand, you can relax it on your left leg or left arm of your chair and play whatever you want. It will also help your back stay in posture because with the standard controllers, I have seen many people with an arched back. They would complain that their back hurts probably because the controller is the cause. Maybe it will help improve your gaming skills? Who knows? All I'm saying is don't criticize something if you haven't tried it yet. If you tried it and didn't like it, you have the right to criticize it.

ROFL or Arnie Schwarzenegger did and he surely did pump them up!

Mario and Luigi: "What-a that? he's so... Big-a!"

Arnie: "I'm here to *claps hands* Pump you up!"

Mario and Luigi: *craps in their pants* "Holey Moley!"

word has it that Nintendo plans to launch the Nintendo Revloution into the US first than any other countries as Japan and Europe. and as for Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear series, is interested in the Revloution also...so perhas in the future, he would show off some of his games (besides MGS) to the Revloution also. Kojima has created his own company "Kojima productions" with a foxhound symbol from the MGS series so he and his company are already producing some games for the next gen consoles for PS3 and Xbox360. (possibly Revloution also...)

Revolution could launch outside Japan first - Nintendo

Jim Merrick on Revolution launch plans, pricing, downloads, more...

Revolution won't necessarily launch in Japan first, according to Nintendo Europe's senior vice president of marketing Jim Merrick, who also has some strong words for Epic Game's Mark Rein, who recently criticised the platform holder's next-generation plans.

Speaking in an interview with our sister site Eurogamer today, Merrick said Revolution might "not follow the stereotypical formula of Japan first, then the US, then Europe some time later". "Anything's possible," he said, when asked if the console could conceivably launch in Europe first.

Reacting to Mark Rein's recent suggestion that games using the Revolution's freestyle controller would be "gimmicky" and "cheap", Merrick paid tribute to Epic's strengths, but added, "he doesn't have a Revolution controller, he doesn't have a dev kit, he's talking about something he knows nothing about," before issuing something of a challenge - "if he'd like to get a dev kit and really dig into it, then I'd be interested to hear what he has to say."

Merrick also answered questions about pricing possibilities for the Revolution's back catalogue downloads, talked about other download possibilities, and confirmed that the console's 512MB of Flash memory will be expandable.

The Nintendo executive also reaffirmed, "I would be very disappointed if I went to E3 and didn't play Revolution games," and said that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima was among developers working on the system.

Nintendo's Revolution is expected to launch in 2006. You can read the entire Jim Merrick interview on Eurogamer.

I read a report the other day that Revolution, like Nintendo DS is capable of having an online multiplayer session using just one disc.

That mean many will get to sample free games by playing them with the others via the Internet. Hmm...

So not everybody will have to own a copy of the game in order to play it then. On Xbox and Sony, you need a copy of the game to play it online, but on the Revolution, all you need is to find somebody who is hosting the game and you can join without needing the copy of the game.

Not confirmed yet though, but should be interesting and a good way to sample games before buying them. Perhaps Microsoft should consider marketing their games this way by using a similar method.

just heard from feburary issue of electronics gaming monthly that shigeru miyamoto (mario creator) mentioned recently that there's one more secret yet revealed for the Nintendo Revloution...

gee, and I wonder it's something that is MUCH better than the controller remote? well, let's hope so!

speaking of "game samples" you can download demos via Xbox live on Xbox360 and download such demos like Quake 4 and Call of Duty on it, and no cost at all.
