I wish I could attend an NFB training center. After all, one can always improve their Braille, daily living and travel skills. I doubt my VR counselor would pay the cost though since I already received training at a blindness rehab program here in my area as well as our local deafblind center.

there were several people there when i was there that had gone to other centers.
 
Really? Why did they transfer over to the Louisiana Center?

because other centers dont provide enough independent living skills, when they first got there they had to go out for every meal, and at the end you have to do a meal for forty.

Yes, I've heard some of the NFB training centers are better than others. Have you ever heard of the NFB center in Minneapolis called Blind, Inc.? One of my best friends went there and had to cross a 7-lane highway for one of his O&M lessons. :shock:

yup, my last day in o&m i had to do a 5.6 mile walk.

That wouldn't be a problem for me because I like to walk for 2 1/2 hours per day. When you did your final lesson in O&M, was it a "drop off" lesson in which you were blindfolded, dropped off at an unknown location and had to find your way back? I had similar training at the guide dog school I attended for my last 2 dogs.

i had to do three. i hated them. argh. they were hard.
