OH , I did not see that link here, I know pine trees are not good for fire wood. There is cut up pine tree in a park I go to and I was thinking it's too bad couldn't be used for firewood. The tree been there for months now.

Pine trees can be burned, just have to burn it right so no creosote builds up, a hot fire with oak or other hard woods to thoroughly burn it, as pine is a soft, fast burning wood it has a lot of sticky sap but very very flammable. Pine doesn't burn hot, just fast so its a poor heating wood but easy to burn to use as kindling to start a fire or as a quick show of flames.

I would burn most anything but hardwood is the best all around wood (oak, hickory, elm and others) elm is hard to split as well as sycamore I believe as its stringy.
Other woods such as ash will leave very little ashes to clean up.

I was always told not to burn pine wood in my woodstove . I had one in a cabin I rented out . I had a roaring fire going and the pipe broke lose and the fire was shooting up . I ran to get my landlord and he came and put the lid from my cast iron pot over the pipe. I never used a wood stove before and did not think to do the . My landlord installed the woodstove and did a bad job. This could had started a horrible forest fire if that happen while I was sleeping . We had to wait for the woodstove o get cold before my landlord could fix it. He said I saved the day by getting to him in time. That is interesting to know pine wood is OK to burn.

I don't know about most people, but I screw my pipes together with 2 or 3 screws at each joint, they will never come apart. Just a measure of added safety and is recommended by the manufacturers as well.

This was in the !970's and I really think my landlord didn't know what he was going. He brought some land ands build a 3 cabins , 2 were rentals and he lived in the bigger one. He had a dirt road but he was not maintaining the road during the rainy season and the road started to wash away. I think he brought the land , I know there were a lot of people that just cleared some land and built a cabin and live thee rent free.
