Will Hurricane Rita be Another Katrina?

I will NOT blame on Bush! It is EVERYBODY's PROBLEM! Yes, this includes myself. The problem with NOLA really started when Jimmy Carter was president. Jimmy Carter and his congressmen think it is NOT necessary and cost ineffective to fix that Leeve in NOLA. So, the next presidents and so forth thinks since there is NO problem in the past, why fix now? That is VERY common practice with everybody, even in every government levels. When there is no problem, DON'T fix it! We all have the habit of waiting til its too late and very costlier than whats to begin with. Even if President wants something to be done, Congressmen CAN have the final saying and say NO to president and guess who gets blamed? Congressmen? Hahaha NEVER! They are the one who got away! How many of you ever pay attention to congress floor? Im sure almost nobody!

I am not too happy to hear there is another hurricane in the forecast! Why? I knew NOBODY is prepare for this double whammy! Plus the gas price is already pricey nowadays, and I need not to deal with it anymore! :madfawk:

I hope someday, there will be massive firing in every level of government to weed out these lazy SOB that don't deserve to work for the government! No more gossip rooms government offices! No more long breaks for them, No more waivers for ineffective with work. If they can't meet the workload quota, then pack and leave the position! Anbybody found asleep in their government desk is ground for immediate terminate. Goverment need to start practice what normal private business owner do everyday!

'Normal private business owners' are no better in these situations too. It is largely depend on who's who (both governments and private business owners) and their fiscally/non-fiscally responsibilities.

165 mph winds with Hurricane Rita! It's Cat 5 now! I hope it won't be a disaster at Galveston, Texas all over again like it did in 1900.

I don't think you get my point. Have you seen employees fall asleep in private companies and get away from it? It is VERY common in government office and they don't get fire that easily!
If you make mistake in private companies, you stand chance of getting fired. But in Government office, you make mistake, that is the citizen's problem not yours! That is WHAT mess everything up!

Believe me, there are people who fell asleep in private companies AND get away from it. My father used to work for private companies through military contracts to develop the military capabilities. He shared his stories about his work with us in the past, he frequently caught employees AND employers fell sleep in private companies. Even worse, some of them had sex with some employees or non-employees in their offices. Some of them recieved the awards for 'best effort' or 'hard work'...

Like I said in my previous post, there is no difference between governments and private companies at all. Again, it is largely depend on who-who.

Welcome to the tropical climate....they will cease to surprise you! We only know less than 50 years in details of the hurricane...They used paper and old fashioned equipment before computers.

Thank god I don't live in Hurricane Alleys! Rather live in Blizzard alleys. Can't hardly wait to see another blizzard! Cool, eh?

or tornado alleys, forget it! I would rather be in standard rain and wind over a hurricane anyday!

Exactly! Blizzard just a huge snow storm dumping LOTS LOTS LOTS of white powder known as snow! Usually there is whiteout! You can't see anything just practically 10 feet away! So, sometimes you could be snowbounded BUT, there won't be much of damages caused by blizzard comparing to these wacko hurricane and tornado alleys! I rather blizzard over ice storm! Ice storm cause more damages, but not as bad as hurricane!

yep true, blizzards don't cause much damage. It just stops people from going anywhere and they're forced to stay home as long you have food and water.

Water is NOT the issue here. The real issue is frozen pipes! Just need to make sure no pipe gets frozen otherwise you won't get water! I have always had fridge full. So, won't have to worry about it, and I even have the camp stove just in case of power outrage. My gas stove got safety feature which shuts itself off when power outrage occurs. SHIT!
I even have gas lanterns so, won't worry about anything. :)

If I were in a blizzard, I would always supply few gallons of bottled water if the pipes freezes over. ;)

Category 5 already?? geez this has to stop!

I live in a tornado alley.. isn't that cool??? :rl:

Indeedy. I used to live in East for one and half year. I've made some preparations for emergencies such as blizzard disaster. Example: several 5 gallons jugs of water, canned tunas & salmon, etc.. It is always good idea to stock them up no matter where we are.

It is insane to depend on city pipes for survival (both non-emergencies and emergencies for water)
