Will a 911 call save you?

Yeah and if you do shoot the guy, do it after they get in the house otherwise you are in more trouble than they are.:rl:

Perhaps, we shall need vest to wear it.

Anyway, if someone dial 911 on mobile phone and leave it. Police will, more likely, show up first and find out what's going on. Then they will call for specs to bring up. It's kinda waste. That's why call 911 to respond the agent's questions.

If there is alarm you could just simple click to make player to voice by request for hospital, fire or police, it would be most helpful and quick.

For someone to try kill you, of course, you have to be outsmart them by protect yourself. Hide somewhere as they would waste their time search you while police tried their best time to arrive.

Okay u shoot that guy in the leg as he shoot u in the eye. GENIUS! :iough:

oh LOL fap fap fap

Hmm... obviously, that person doesn't have train enough to shot your ass. Maybe shouldn't play video game with gun too much because of target isn't real as it appear to be. ha.

Sure, 911 is a great resource to use. It helps but it does not always come to your rescue or anyone's rescue at a whim. I'm not saying 911 is a god sent to us. It isn't but if you know how to use the system properly, it can be helpful. People tend to think 911 is the answer to everything and that it will be immediately solved. That isn't always the case.

Unfortunately, Some of the people are abusing the privilege of using 911 for a prank call. This also reminds me of another thread where the little boy in Michigan called 911 two or three times. The 911 operators thought the boy were giving a prank call. As a result, the mother died. Sad, isn't it?

Yes I remember other thread somewhere about a little boy called 911 to save his mother's life but his call is being ignored and think it's prank call which is really sad.

I think they should restrict and make rule about the emergency call. There're penalty fine to violate the law for make prank call on 911. Here in Germany, yes that's why we don't have any problem with emergency calls in the past.

I never forget at few years ago. A man was at my neighbor asking for my name. (My name is not label on my house). My neighbor suggested him to ring my house bell but he claimed that I was not in house. It got her skepical about him because she knows I am in home. My neighbor convinced him to try again. As soon as he gone next to me, my neighbor alarmed police. Guess what, Police was here front of my house within few minutes as I opened the door and saw stranger and decided to not press the automatic gate to open for him to in my property. I was like  Police asked me: Are you okay... I was like  and replied...Yes... so Police required him for ID but he don't have it with him so they took him to police station... My neighbor came to me... Are you okay... I said... Yes... She told me what happened. I  her... Later we were told that he is a Saleman... No matter either it's alarm or not but still make sure which is good. Police are there for us what they can. I know it's not always but they try their best what they can.

Accord the law, they are obligate to be there for us, no matter what... If there're prank call then penalty fine.

I don't think 911 will save you always. Anything can happen in a split second and they won't have the time to save you.

Yes, that´s right. It´s not always but they do their best what they can.

My son was home when someone tried to break into his house, but he scared them off. He called 911 and was on HOLD for 20 minutes. His wife was on her way to work and was in the next town (Bay Area) and got to the house before the police did!
:eek2:

It's very strange. Police won't find you if you called 911 in the cell phone. If it's true, then why the hell it happened when a little kid called on cell phone and said that her mother is not waking up then hung up. Police did asked media if anyone knows their voice then contact police. I don't know what's their result right now but it wouldn't happen if police has something that they can find a little kid. No, it was not prank.

BTW, to deaf people if something happens to you, ask your neighbors to call 911.

Okay u shoot that guy in the leg as he shoot u in the eye. GENIUS! :iough:

Speaking of genius, I'm wondering at the convuluted logic of your (sorry, I mean "ur") scenario.

1. You're (y're) saying there's an intruder with a gun in your (ur) home, but the intruder will not shoot you (u) until you (u) shoot first? Is this some armed intruder law where you live?

2. Why did you (u) shoot the armed intruder in the leg? If no answer jumps to mind, please feel free to use multiple choice below.
a. Don't believe in excessive response.
b. Am bad shot; ammunition for practice is expensive.
c. It was an accident; didn't know my gun was loaded.

3. Is your (ur) gun a single shot? Or did you (u) feel taking turns shooting was more fair?

4. Are (r) you (u) saying if you (u) had used a ball bat or karate, the intruder would not have shot you (u) in the eye (i)?

Just trying to understand real genius.

Maybe he was thinking of a duel instead of a home invasion? :dunno:

...BTW, to deaf people if something happens to you, ask your neighbors to call 911.
Many people don't have neighbors at home, especially during week days.

Besides, what if the person is injured? Crawl to each neighbor's house until finding someone at home?

I don't think that's a reliable plan.

Do you think gun is number one to save your life? Sorry, I view it as a poor argument and excuse. Many people don´t feel comfortable to own guns but they know how to defense themselves without use guns.

Women's Defense

The websites says that high % shot a family member than an intruder!

My families have guns from military but I already know how to use it since my dad taught be to be the best shooter. But I don't use it for defense. Mostly best defensive is using material arts like "kick-boxing, Aikido, Judo, Karate, or take up kendo" are best denfense. I also use pepper spray so that allow to use against the attackers as well.

I was watching the local news this morning talking about cell phone, security system and 911 services. I thought it was very interesting.

They were talking about 911 services have hard time finding the location due to the tower being far away. If it is within 300 to 500 yards then it would be accurate to get your location. if it is more than that then they will have trouble finding you. so what good will the cell phone be for if it is more than 500 yards?

You will have to have a back up plan if something happen.

Unique Challenges Posed by Wireless Phones
While wireless phones can be an important public safety tool, they also create unique challenges for public safety and emergency response personnel and for wireless service providers. Because wireless phones are mobile, they are not associated with one fixed location or address. A caller using a wireless phone could be calling from anywhere. While the location of the cell site closest to the caller may provide a very general indication of the caller’s location, that information is not usually specific enough for rescue personnel to deliver assistance to the caller quickly.

===============
And another thing... if you have a prepaid cell phone and the call get disconnected. you will have to call them to give them informations. The name and your phone nbr will not show up in their computer. Only contract phone will show up in their computer. I thought that was very interesting. They need to work on that but long ways to go.
----------------------------

If your wireless phone is not “initialized” (meaning you do not have a contract for service with a wireless service provider), and your emergency call gets disconnected, you must call the emergency operator back because the operator does not have your telephone number and cannot contact you.

Also they were talking about SEcurity system who people have in their homes. if they have cell phone it wont work with security system. They will have to have land line phone to hook to the system. the lady found another way to hook the security system to cable modem and it actually work. only bad things is if there is an outage- it wont work. big ouch....

i guess they will need to work on it and it may be better in future.. :)

Wireless 911 Services

that's why I carry gun and medkit with me :o

I don't think that's a reliable plan.

They should have make plans if something happen to them. Maybe chain with sklx and texting to family. Or panic alarm (special item for seniors) and police will come faster.
