Wikipedia BAD!!

my university uses a database system which enables students to borrow books and other publications from any other college or university in the greater metro area.

Same here, and it's great. Gallaudet is one of the schools I have unlimited library access to, which is awesome for an ASL nerd like me. <smile>

Actually the schools in the D.C. area have a system called consortium schools, so I can actually take a class at Gally or another D.C. area school and get credit at my university.

the same is true at my university. in fact, i can take online courses at any school in the UW system.

my university also allows unlimited access to various university libraries around the country including gallaudet. all one needs to do is utilize the university's library database system to access it. i guess that's one of the perks of attending the second largest university in the state. <giggle>

this isn't true in all cases. if you look hard enough, you can find plenty of good research publications online.

That's the point I think, if you don't have a VPN tunnel connection (virtual private network to the school) then aside from going on campus, you're out of luck on getting immediate info. Expect to spend loads of time digging around. You then have to spend a good deal of time figuring out where to get info, as there aren't many sites that contain -everything-. The schools have the connections with the best sites, which sadly require $. So then you're just left to pick up the scrap stuff that's around.

Well, if I went back to college. I wouldn't use wikipedia because it's not a reliable source. I would research a reliable source, but that's a pretty difficult thing to find on the internet sometimes. Many books at the library can be reliable sources, though. Wikipedia didn't exist when I went to the community college back in the 90's.

 i don't.

It may be by subject, that might be an influencing factor. I have a hard time looking for credible psychological and sociological periodicals/journals, I find it easier to just hit up my school's connection and grab it from there. Other than those types of periodicals I haven't looked up much other kinds like debates about war.

care to share yours? it may come in handy for me when I lose my alumni access.

from Urban Dictionary:

Jiro - A cool character made up and used in the Suikoden II game.

Wolf - A person that is regarded as predatory, rapacious, and fierce. They normally stick to themselves but, if threatened or someone starts a fight with them in school for example. They won't hold back and will probably hurt you. They are normally gruff on the outside but can be overcome if you are nice enough to them. Usually very very strong. There are a few per school or office.

You forgot to add "often a juvenile troublemaker". :laugh2:
