Why won't the school send in my FM system to get it fix?

All year in my 11th grade, I wanted the FM system to be fixed because it has been causing me a lot of problem. However, I keep hearing the same excuse, the school can't/won't be able to afford it for the FM system to get fixed. I know it cost a lot, really, for what reasons?

I want to know why they won't send it in? Is it because it's expensive or is it because my FM system isn't made anymore. My FM system is Phonak and I had it since 5th grade (I am going to 12th grade now) and the school won't bother buying me a new one.

I can list a few problems I have been having lately with the Phonak FM System.

1) It's always making that static noises and can change very often every day and each room I go to.
2) It makes my hearing aid (it's digital) battery beep constantly between 3 to 5 minutes! It's annoying to hear it often!
3) Charging the battery is easily worn out less than 6 months.
4) When the battery is low and it hasn't been used that much, it turns off to much every time I try to turn it back on.

Those are some of the examples I am having problem with and I am tired of it. I want it be sent out to get fixed. Now, why won't the school send it out to get it fix?

Maybe because you keep saying you don't want to use it?

True, but I rarely say it in person. Only in my mind or to certain people I trust to talk about. I just want to focus in class without any distraction going on, that's all. If I can get it fix, then I can focus with no problem.

Oh well if its the schools property I'm pretty sure they are required to fix it...who ever is in charge of your IEP you should contact THEM and tell them your FM needs to get fixed

Hm, interesting. I shall keep that in mind on the first day of school and let my IEP manager know that. I thought teacher of the deaf are suppose to be in charge of FM system?

well if it's in your IEP and your deaf teacher isn't doing anything go above them to whoever is in charge of your IEP ..your IEP should state that you need your FM system and if its not working they can tell the appropriate person that your FM system needs to be fixed

Well, I never told my IEP teacher before because I was so used to letting the deaf teacher know what is going on. Now, I know what to do. I really want to focus better in class, that's all I want. No more distraction.

hey

=I have a Phonak FM system
you could trade in your current FM system for another one
I traded in mine for the Inspiro and got it on March 18 of this year
it also works with the new FM reciver which is the MLxi which I have
take a look at this
thttp://www.phonak.com/com/b2c/en/products/fm/transmitters/inspiro/overview.html
let your audiologist know about this via AMS or email and she'll/he'll send it in and give you a loaner
I always let mine know if there's a problem and she sends it in and gives me a loaner the next day

one more thing, is your current one the Campus S?
I had that since I was in 4th grade and grown old on me in 9th grade

P.S. AMS stands for Audio Mateince System where an audiologist comes to your school every month to check on the FM and the hearing aids's status

Hm, so if I trade my Phonak for another one, it won't cost? That does sound fair. Oh, to answer your question, yes, it's Campus S.

I never had my audiologist come in to my school to check up on it. It's usually my teacher of the deaf taking it in if any problem is occurring, but I will consider that.

Yay! We buds! XD

Okay, so the trade is free and everything, that's good deal! I like the exchange better instead of having to buy it.

Well, I will definitely do that on the first day of school and hope it works out better! :D

see? told you the trade in is better
2, I can hear better with my Inspiro and it's awesome :D
I always trust Phonak and my audi 2 xD

but I'm proud to be an Otikid! (I wear Oticon hearing aids!)

So, which one would you recommend for me? Or should the audiologist be the one to recommend what's best for me?

I would go for the Inspiro since it's high-tech (I'm a tech geek) and it has the mute button on it
2, it has better sound quality AND it makes decsions for you based on noise!
WARNING: this is gonna sound boring but I'm about to give you the tech talk!
it has 3 screensavers on it
an alarm clock is included
it also has the date and time on it
it features Sound Check (which lets you check the FM's status)
also has the MultiTalker Network which allow 2 or more teacher to get their speeches to reciver wearing kids
has datalogging
also motoring and let you know about diffculties like no reciver is responing (happened to me b4) and stuff
AND has AutoConnect and the Dynanmic Speech Extractaor!

here's what it looks like

there's other FM systems made by Phonak which are Mylink, zoomlink, and easylink

Nope, it doesn't sound boring at all! :D Actually, I'm a tech nerd myself! XD

But, with the details you told me it's perfect with everything! And, it has no static noise whatsoever?

nope, no static noise involved atfer I got it!
mine was on on March 18 of this year!

BTW, I'm very close to your hearing loss level (moderate/severe with the severe loss in high frquencies) :cool2:
