Dangerous in certain situation? I can see that.
But there's a trade-off...
I can smell a gas leak or a chemical spill long before my hearing roommate can.

I thought the whole point of this thread was to focus on the advantages of being deaf/hh.
Might be the difference between evacuating in time or not. Just like last week, my smelling the smoke was the difference between having a fire and not having a fire.

It would sucks to have no hearing, no sight, no smell, no taste, no touch and no limbs.

What's with the hearing roommate? So what? Over smell?

Propane leak, bleach, anmonia, Telfon off-gassing, pesticides-- things that she's unable to smell unless she was in close proximity; all of them are deadly to her birds, and theorically humans as well.

Mmm... An $1800 "canary in a coalmine," how unfortunate would that be?
Kind of like when a deaf person is unable to hear a horn blast from a train and get killed while walking along a train track when a hearing person would hear such a warning?

I don't understand that statement at all. Canaries were meant to die to warn the miners of the odorless gas.
I don't think anyone's denying the cons. But the point of this thread is to focus on the pros.
True....people who bring negativity about being deaf or hoh aren't welcome in this thread. Bye bye..lol
