Who likes mushrooms?

Wonder how they stuff them?

Do they wait till mushrooms are hungry then feed them?

:naughty:

LOL! I will have to ask my daughter this ,as she is the one that made them for the holidays.

I love to eat mushrooms too. I have never hunted for edible mushrooms. They have an edible forest hike that I would like to take some day.

I do go hunting for a mushroom called a Birch Polypore. While they can be eaten (non-toxic) they are not good tasting or used for that purpose. When dried they make great fire starter. We use them for that for our winter fires. We are surrounded by Birch out here so they are plentiful.

So that is what you call those mushrooms ! When I was in Maine with my family I saw some the looked big enough for my grandchild to use for a seat. I should tell my son in law b/c he goes to the cabin in the winter . Do have to dry them out first before using them in a fire ?

You can grow certain sorts of mushrooms in your kitchen they grow something that looks like a log and go on for ever yank some off and they grow again and I can't remember name of them
I've done that. I didn't get enough to make it worth repeating.

Bad thread... Made me crave stuffed mushrooms... Made way too many had to invite people over and cook even more :D

I want to get some giant portabellas, put Montreal steak seasoning and melted butter on them and grill em to perfection and top with Swiss cheese..... damnit !!!!!!

Yes, they do need to be dried out before use. When dried they are like burning cardboard.

Be sure to use a good guide to check what you have are birch polypores. There are many shelf mushrooms that would emit toxic spores and fumes when dried and burned.

Here is a good picture and info: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/piptoporus_betulinus.html

Oh then I better not suggest this to my SIL , I don't want him picking the wrong kind to burn.

The Chanterelles were really good once again. I had quite a few left over so I froze them. We shall see how that works out. Next on my list are Morels. They appear in the spring around here. :D

I am getting fed up with Market Bucket ! I went there again to buy some more white mushrooms and they only had some a few that didn't look good. I wish MB would buy enough mushrooms , by 10:30 AM they were all done. I love mushrooms !

Guess what I made for dinner...heheheheheeee
