Who has an electronic home security system?

One time a number of years ago, we had a pit bull that was very friendly, but animal contraol labled as semi-vicious since J.D. would not sit when told to and he would lick your face off. Animal control put a sign in the yeard (at my father's request) that said we had a semi-vicious dog and to enter at own risk, the homeowners would not be responsible. Even the police called first before enterring the yard and J.D. was always tied up in the back yard or in the house. Never once bit anyone, but everyone was so scared of a pit bull.

You can thank the media for scaring everybody. I've always said it was the politicians and the media's fault for skewing everyone's views of the pit bulls.

I repair/service security equipment for a living. It's getting hard for me because I can't hear buzzers/bells/sirens::roll: Often I have to ask some little old lady if the bell is ringing:lol:

So of course I have an alarm system at home. I have it rigged to text me if it goes off. Also the doorbell will text me if I'm home.

If anyone has any questions about the subject feel free to ask me!

I had experience with ADT a few years ago. They installed everything free. It was wireless. The sensors need battery replaced annually. I think it was $36 a month.
The biggest problem was the sales pitch that comes, once you let them in for installation. Lots of added costs incurred for extra strobes and window detectors. Seemed reasonable in price, but the drumbeat of "you should consider..." was tiring.

FakeTV Burglar Deterrent Device

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUW-fIq0eeU]YouTube - FakeTV Commercial[/ame]

FakeTV is a burglar deterrent that works by simulating the light output of a real high defintion television. FakeTVs built-in computer controls its super-bright LEDs to produce light of varying intensity and color that light up a room just like a real television does. This makes a home look occupied, even if it isn't.

Hahahaha that's great! You're going to buy one of these, too.

Do you have a wired or wireless electronic home security system? If you do, are you satisfied with it? Do you get satisfactory support from the security company? Do you think the cost is reasonable? Do you feel safe?

My Aunt/Uncle had an electronic home security system. Someone break in their house. My mom told me, story - what happen at my Aunt/Uncle's house. Someone cutted the wall to enter and stoles value without alarm. Theif person knows how to avoid to pick any sensors (door, windows, motion).

About 20 years ago, my brother told me someone break in his house which not have alarm system. Theif person did not steal anything from his house. I knew my brother has value things at his house. He seem that two cats were good security.

yup. not surprised about the wall break-in. My friend's family business - a lucrative jewelry store was robbed... all cleaned out.... with a hole thru the wall which didn't trigger any alarm. although they were insured but still....

What about the kind that have sensors on the inside corners of rooms that detect motion inside the room?

no idea. I just remembered - he told me that the security tapes were removed.

I have alarm but I dont set it when home. I have locks but I don't lock when I am home. I have a 9mm. There is a round in the chamber when I am home. : ) Oh and I have a dog too but he pretty much just fetches beer.

Good overall rifle.

If you wanted a good deer rifle, I would suggest the 270. Less kick.

True. I have one of each. Rarely shoot the 30.06 cause it does have a kick. I grew up using a 243. Plenty of power for our small Texas deer.
