Who has an electronic home security system?

how does he know I have a gun or not?

If a person on here is planning to break into your house, they would search the threads to learn as much about you as possible. There have been many gun debate issues in this forum in which you may or may not have contributed. So, I agree, people should be careful what they say. :)

I'm not worrying about him stealing my stuffs. I'm more worry about molesting, rape, and sex trafficking. If he get close to me, I will fight back.

beside, majority of people don't have a security system. As it is too expensive. I think those robbers in Reba's neighborhood figured they don't have a security system.

I think if it use your computer router, thieve still can cut the wiring. Rather it is phone (DSL), cable (for cable internet), or satellite (the dish probably need to be outdoor)

But anyway, if you have a security system that can tell someone cut the wiring, you should be all good.

My place is too easy to break in.

*psst loghead: read this, I am welcoming people to break in and steal my things. *

But I've had experiences with electronic home security systems, and I can officially say I hate them.

Sadly, most people add a home security system after something has happened.

that is true but we will do it if we feel we need to but we don't. We live in a "family-oriented" community where everybody watched out for each other and we lived in a community where the robbery was non-existent. it was pretty much a sleepy town where nothing happens. Currently - we don't need it cuz... well we live in a condo with a whole load of security - cameras at every corners and 4-6 security guards on duty.

Plus - each town where we lived in... we were just about 5-10 min away from nearest police station and the response time was about 2-4 min. Yes I know this because sometimes we accidentally set off the security system (installed by previous owner) while trying to disable it and also our neighbors had to call 911 for medical emergency.

same. I frequently go to my friend's house and sleep over. It's more of a nuisance. The alarm went off when I opened the window to get some fresh air

Thats the thing.

One time I had to lock down a friggin mansion - It took me four hours to figure the dang issue. It said a window was open, I checked EVERY single window in the dang house. Finally I found the culprit - It was a 2 by 2 window 60 feet above ground in the bathroom in master bedroom that was just ever so slightly open.

We never did either but now I'm thinking about it.

oh I'm sorry to hear that the circumstance has led you to consider it. Hope all is well!!! Be safe.

a more expensive security system has LCD display that tells you exactly where. the typical security system only says - "ZONE 1!!" or something. yea... how so vague...

....The house I rented for NYE - The alarm wouldn't even stfu for three of four days I was there. Thankfully everyone was purely deaf, and the hearing visitors we had throughout the time was bitching about it. :deaf:

We called and let the people who rented the house to us know but... guess what, they were out of town.

Two of the doors to go outside with wouldn't even lock (aka no lock), the front door remained locked. We had random visitors just creep in. They're pretty lucky that we're in a tight-knit community.

WTF.

She meant wireless as in battery- or solar-powered? Or ones that fall back on UPS/generators?

I would like wireless because the bad guys can cut wires outside the house.

The only wire from outside is the telephone line and power line. Most decent home security services will send police anyway in case of disconnected line so thief wouldn't cut it (unless it's part of extra fee). What you did in your post #12 is an excellent front line defense.

So yea - since nobody will be home for a long period of time.... it is good idea to have a home security system for a peace of mind. You can always discontinue the security service if it's no longer needed.

lolity. when I say tight-knit community in my case... it's because we grew up with them for over 15 years. same people. same neighbors. same routine. same old shit :)

Speaking of which -- I am armed. :P

My own mother buys me bullets for no apparent reason - maybe she sees sales and thinks I need bullets so....

Hmm.. I should go shooting sometimes to make use of these bullets but she says I should stockpile for the day that is coming..
